We got the insulation last week. Hubby is working on the manifolds for the plumbing and the last of the in-the-wall type stuff and we will schedule the drywall for next week! It’s getting there! I am getting so excited. Then we get painting, cabinet installation, flooring, tiling, finish carpentry, door installation, etc. Still lots to do…

hubby went out and got more of the electrical done and the septic installers put in the tanks for our side and my parents’ side. Tomorrow we have to go out and grade the dirt up to the house. Also, we will be cutting up a tree to get it out of the septic field area. Things are moving forward.

We spent the whole day out at the house today. Hubby just about finished the electrical on my parents’ side. The rest of us did yard/garden work and I cleaned up after the framing crew had worked on the final siding and porch posts. They came either Wednesday or Thursday and took away all of their tools/ladders/scaffolding. Left a mess to sort through what we want to save for various shed projects later. But they’ll come back to take the leftovers we don’t want away.

It’s August. We want to move in October. Framing, roofing, siding, doors, windows, porches were all done by one set of contractors. We took the rest! What did we get ourselves into? Hubby is done with the outgoing plumbing and half of the electrical. Still has incoming plumbing, 1/2 electrical, and all the HVAC. We will hire the drywallers and insulation done and the septic installers. Then we get the painting, flooring, cabinets, fixture installations. I might hire the tile guy for our tub. Sounds like a lot to get done in 3 months.

See the above statement, enough said for now. Must formulate a plan to take back control of my home from the invasion of the clutter…

It’s so close to done. The kitchen, stairwells and landing are painted, and so is the front door and frame, which were some of my last “big” projects. Still lots of trim work and other little things to do, but I’m almost tempted to mark this one done.

Kitchen stuff
The countertops will be installed next week and then all I have left is painting and other cosmetic stuff. I can’t believe it has taken this long and I’m so relieved the end is in sight.

Just little things are left to complete the renovation… trim, thresholds, vent cover…etc.

I bought this house in 2003 for very little money. It was tilting to one side. It looked awful from the outside and not much better on the inside. There was no yard in the back and the fron was plain. Well, I’ve painted, put down a wood porch, had the windows in front replaced and restored, di the landscaping in front, made the backyard into a small retreat, planted my own vegetables, stripped the paint and stained inside, ripped up the carpet to expose the gorgeous floors that you just can’t buy anymore, decorated, restored the firplace with 100 year old tile and had all the brass door fixtures refinished. There’s still bits and bobs to do and those are the things that I have to deal with. Plus, I want to redo the bathroom. I get so exhausted from each project that I lose steam and don’t want to deal with it all. I have to get past that this year and just finish. Time alloted, December 2008.
