teach my dog NOT to bark when the phone rings

saga continues-
phone rings-
dog starts barking- and runs to living room
everyone starts yelling-
answer phone- and try to pretend you weren’t just yelling
it’s a sickness

he can come when called, sit, lay down, roll over, sit up, dance, stand, jump, go where you point, wait for long periods patiently, heel, fetch, hold a treat on his nose until you say okay- then he tosses it down and eats it-
He’s an awesome dog- but he goes nuts when the phone rings! It’s like a split personality.

Every time the phone rings our dog goes bizzerk, chooses his most annoying bark, barks like a maniac, and makes a mad dash into the living room- Lord help anyone or anything that’s in the way!
I’ve tried
-yelling at him
-unplugging the living room phone, thinking that ring was setting him off
-teaching him something else to do when he hears the ring
-keeping him on a leash
