Lent 6 months ago

I don’t know if we’re the only family that this happens to, but most years, lent is a living nightmare.
This has been a difficult one, and I’m hoping Easter with bring some releif.
I haven’t managed to pray nearly has much as I had hope to.
Good Friday hopefully will be devoted to prayer.

Things Have Slipped Recently 8 months ago

after some sustained progress, I’m ashamed to say I let things slip again. But, I suppose recognising that is the first step to correcting it.
As lent approaches, I hope to increase th time I spend in prayer, and with the focus of lent and easter, hopefully deepen my prayers.

Still Improving 1 year ago

Prayer times are getting deeper and more meaningful. I always have felt that desiring to spend time in prayer, is a good sign.
During the dry difficult times we should still pray, but it’s good to feel the desire and joy come back again.

My prayer life is actually slowly improvng at the moment – I’d been on a real slump for a while. But I didn’t make my usual mistake of trying to start where I’d dropped off. Instead this time I’ve taken things slowly and gently, and it seems to be working. I haven’t got back to the level I was at previously, but my prayer times are getting longer and more in depth. Hope I can keep it up this time.

A Lifetimes Work 1 year ago

I seem to have been working on this goal all my adult life.
At times it’s so easy, and praying is a joy. Then suddenly, it all falls apart, sometimes I don’t even know why.
The hard times, are very hard, but experience shows that the quicker I pick myself up and start again, the easier it is to re-establish regular prayer.
Every time we fall away, we must start over again, but maybe like physical training, we need to start at the begining again, and work our way back up.
I think it will be a lifetime work, but it’s the most important work we’ll ever do in our lives.

God's silence has silenced me 1 year ago

So much for prayer … if God moves and speaks through people … if God has no hands, no feet but those of his followers … then God has succeeded in pushing me away.

don't stop... 2 years ago

This is a never ending one. But sometimes it sure seems like I need a vitamin shot! Like now…

Since I dont work fulltime anymore, I tend to not find the time to set aside for my time with the Lord. I used to use my commuting time, now my time gets lost.
