So my friend and I recently started the couch to 5k running plan and I’m on week two right now. I’m really loving this program and my endurance is building pretty quickly. I know I’ll be able to get this done by the end of the year so I’ll be updating regularly

Today it occurred to me as I went out for my usual three to three and a half mile run that I ought to give five miles a shot. Goal reached.

I can do four, but generally I’m pretty tired out after three. I also feel like I have to take the last mile a lot slower than the first two-three. Does anybody have any advice on how to improve my endurance/speed?

Worked my way back up from two miles to four miles after an eight week respite (otherwise known as winter.) It hurt like hell to do the four mile run, so I’m dialing back a little this week. I plan to hit five consistently by June.
This week at the gym I managed to walk five miles at 4.2 mph. My goal is to increase by 0.1 mph per week until I get to 7.0 but one I reach 5.0 I will consider my goal accomplished.

Took six days off due to the weather and the holidays. I managed the four miles again, but it was very difficult. Should be back in the swing of things shortly.

I did another four miles today. Once more this week and I’ll up the distance by another quarter-mile. My goal is to try and hit five miles in a month and a half (weather permitting.)
Last week I managed to do the following nonstop at the gym:
4.5 mph for 1.5 miles
5.0 mph for .35 miles
5.5 mph for .1 miles and
6.0 mph for .05 miles for a grand total of…
two whole miles!! I’m meeting with a personal trainer tomorrow to start learning how to strength train to build the right muscle mass to meet this goal. I’m shooting to get this done by March 13, 2008 when my hubby ships out for bootcamp.
i ran .15 miles a few times today for a grand total of .6 miles. i’m still trying to get the slow breathing thing daon but i think part of it is that i’m not hydrated enough. i’m going to try to drink more water at night and before and during exercise to see if it helps. but tomorrow i’m going to attempt to run at least .2 miles at a time by the end of the day.
