Right now I have just a lazy river kayak, but my end goal is to white water kayak so I need to learn how to roll them!
Hopefully by friend Claudia will teach me. She has been doing some hard core training!

I’ve had one brief tutorial in rolling and am very close to an unassisted roll. I found a local guy who’s going to meet with me at an indoor swimming pool for a two hour lesson this Saturday. I hope he’s half as good as my first instructor!
I took a kayaking class once and I sort of know what I am doing, but I didn’t master the roll.

I got my roll down! a great feeling. I had a good coach and was there for almost 3 hrs. today and I feel super confident about it. If you are getting discouraged, KEEP AT IT. once you get it, you get it. GOOD LUCK!

I’m so close, just one more practice day and I’ll get it.

It’s going to be too cold to be working on rolling a kayak. I’ll be able to kayak a little in the open kayaks, but the rolling is going to have to wait until next summer when I revive this goal.

When I drive over a bridge and see the river-I lust after it. I think, “I want to be on that river.” Yesterday, we were out most of the day, on the river in the inflatable, and then biking along the river back to where we put the boats in. I have no idea how I’ll make it through the winter.

I bought an inflatable to take the beach and had a blast on it. We took it out on the river last weekend and that was so much fun. In some ways, I don’t care anymore if I can roll or not. The whitewater class really helped by giving me a lot more confidence in the inflatable-which (1) won’t flip and (2) doesn’t require that I be trapped in with a “skirt.”...However, at the beach there were two young guys surfing in white water kayaks and rolling and I still want to be able to roll the hard shell. Even if I have to put this on hold over the winter, I guess I’ll need to sign up for another class next summer.
yakuza who has missed me?
this about my first experience rolling (and going) kayaking.
it’s really not as difficult as it looks!
experiment with different styles.
