I’m getting ready to start College and I have to make some serious changes so I’m going to Sell, Donate and Throw out a lot of stuff.
Clothes
Video Games
Old Notebooks
Novels
YuGiOh Cards
Shoes
Textbooks
Junk Electronics
Junk
All of this is stuff that contributes to the highly unnecessary mess in my room and I think that its time I make some changes. I need to
really get myself together so that I can focus and study as efficiently as possible and do well in school so I’ll be looking to get rid of some of this junk within the next 18 days.

I'm chaotic
I’m moving out from my parents in a week and I already furnished and decorated my new room. That one is really organized now.
But… the problem is the room at my parents house now. All my stuff is all over the room in different boxes and i cant find back the things I need. And when I start looking for things, and eventually find them back, they’re always at the bottom of a box, makng the box even more messy.
So really need to organize and mainly, throw away things. But that’s hard…

Starting Point
Pat and I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment. There was barely enough room for all of my stuff, never mind all of Pat’s, as well as the stuff we’ve accumulated over the past couple years. So I must improve my organizational skills.
I’ve always thought I was pretty well organized. It was always one of my better qualities. But I’ve found that over the past few years of living on my own I’ve really been slacking. I’ve always been one to have a messy bedroom, and it quickly spreads through the whole apartment. So I try to be organized but I need to improve.
This weekend I spent a full afternoon (and evening) working on my craft space. I organized quite a bit, I was pleased. I still feel as though the coffee table behind my table could use some work, as well as my paper storage method. But all in all, it’s much better than what it started out as.
I also started tackling the baskets I have lying around. Quite a few of them hold my supplies: beads, ribbon, wire; but I also have some square baskets on my shelving that aren’t being put to good use. One I use for candles, and another for odds and ends in my bedroom, but there are 2 other main ones that aren’t being used.
I emptied one of those this weekend and filled it with all the mailing supplies I need/have: envelopes, return address labels, packing tape, tags, etc. It doesn’t fit absolutely everything it could (like an address book, though I don’t have a permanent one – I use the one that comes with my agenda, which I change each year – or really large envelopes) but it’s perfect for my everyday needs. I’m thinking of using the matching basket on the same set of shelves for bubble wrap, since I have so much lying around. But that seems like a bit of a waste…
Other than that, I have a few set of drawers and shelves I want to tackle and rearrange and organize. I also have a lot of knick knacks and photographs that could use some re-placing. Things to do for this weekend…

Now I have my girlfriend’s stuff to organize. And my girlfriend has piles of stuff the likes of which I can’t even wrap my head around. Joy.

I finished cleaning my room today. Ever since boarding school, my room here at home has been filled with two rooms worth of stuff. I made a huge dent in organizing it last summer, but there were still three or four full boxes in my room when I came back over break. I went back through the boxes, cleaned off my surfaces, and emptied some drawers today. I found a bunch of stuff, including finished scrapbook pages that will help with my scrapbooking project, an expensive oragami card that I was going to send a friend for graduation last summer but could never find, and a brand new moleskine notebook which I desperately needed since I’m nearing the end of my current journal and my hometown isn’t near any Barnes and Nobles, and none of the bookstores here carry them.
Plus, now I’ll be able to come home to a clean, empty room without boxes and piles all over the floor.

more progress
I organized my closet last night, which I didn’t realize I was so badly in need of doing. I’ve always been kind of neurotic about how I put clothes in it, so that I can wear them in some semblance of order (because otherwise I wear the same three t-shirts over and over), but it was getting kind of out of hand. Since the weather suddenly went cold, I figured it was time to set it up for proper winter usage. While I was in there, I went ahead and refolded and stacked all those extra blankets and towels I’d just tossed up to the top shelf. Now I can get to anything in there right away, and it’s going to be very easy to maintain when putting freshly-laundered clothing away. I am pleased.
Of course, I still need to go through that pile of stuff that’s been sitting in my easy chair since I moved in. Plus I really need to clean out my desk and organize it properly. But progress is progress.

you know ...

I just realized that I’m almost entirely done with this goal. All I have to do at this point is sort through that last tiny little pile of stuff taking up the chair in my bedroom, and I’ll be completely done. I should really put this at the top of my list for, say, next week.

In organization, I mean. And it helps that my locker is accessable this year, instead of in that unbearbly narrow, hot hallway in the middle of nowhere like last year. Ugh…a chill goes up and down my spine. But anyway, I can carry less stuff in more binders which helps me actually put my papers where they should be. But I’ll just wait for a while before I check it off so that I can make sure it stays like this!!

My home is not perfect but mostly organized. Just about every item has a “home” so we know where it should go if its not already there. I sorted out my closet and have two large bags to donate. I think that I have finally acheived this goal!
