Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

wraiths82In a creative frenzy recently, I've been doing massive amounts of painting-and sketching...

The miraculous transformation of having my pictures turn out like I want, and sometimes evolving during that whole process is really awesome. It’s feeling really good to be accomplishing something artistically!

The attached picture is of two of my recent paintings, the one with the butterfly in hand, is “Beauty Within Reach” and the other is “Forest Faerie Mermaid” 7 years ago

wraiths82Progress! I've begun painting more

and my more recent paintings are starting to take form as what I have pictured. The second to last one, is of a fairy(my design!) doing a sort of praying style above her head. I’m going to try to attempt…doing some sort of sunbeams/moonbeams/refracted light shades coming down through. That’s how I saw it in my minds eye. I’m going to check out the library for books on acrylic painting and painting techniques as well as art terminology so I can say what I mean when talking about all this. I’m experimenting with bigger canvases too and that’s a lovely thing to have plenty of space to fill up! 8 years ago

wraiths82On one of my many plane rides recently

I started drawing more again. I started to get ideas, and most of what I’d been trying to do, started to work!

I was very excited at this. So, maybe if I start woodburning again, I can get the pictures on it that I want, this time around. I’ll try to post some of my art soon. 8 years ago

wraiths82Wowzers..

I found a whole batch of books at Barnes and Noble the other day. These books had many of the things I’ve been picturing for ages of doing with my art. ((drools)) Now of course coming up with the money to buy the books… Wonder if anyone would object if I brought my digital camera there and took pictures…? 8 years ago

wraiths82Argh.

I hate it when I can picture exactly what I want, drawing/painting/woodburning, and go to do it and it comes out all wrong. Then I waste several sheets of paper etc trying to create what I wanted in the first place. If I can do one picture the way I figure it, I’ll check this off but not before then! 9 years ago
