How many questions can you ask the chum before he needs to start giving “silly” answers or wandering off or trying to take the camera?
Two. But repeat that cycle several times and you get a pretty good idea of where he is right now – especially including the silliness and the ignoring when I ask him to stop banging things.

I will do this twice a year – right after his birthday and his half day.
I’ll probably do it next Sunday – mood permitting. Then I’ll mark it as done cuz the process will be begun.

Well, I waited until December 30th this year, but I got my son to do the interview. Honestly, he (at 6 years old) was more comfortable with the interview than I expected.
He got horribly upset when he cheated and read the paper and noticed a question about girlfriends, but was perfectly fine with our compromise to leave that particular question out.
I’ll have it up on my personal blog, Random Fodder, in a day or two.
I’ll be adding this goal back on January 1 each year as a reminder to do it annually :)

Probably won’t keep it on my list forever but it needs to be here now so I remember it!

Today, a week after his third birthday.
But I am so mad at myself! I did the whole interview and then realized that I had the camera on the wrong setting! I ended up recording the whole thing as one giant mpeg, instead of recording it to tape! So I had to do the whole thing over again. But this time, he was getting bored and distracted. Oh well. Live and learn.

We have lots of footage of him and tons of pictures, but this sounds great! I think I’d like to ask some of the same questions every year (at least until he’s old enough to remember that I ask the same questions every year).
