How to not be addicted to facebook

How I Did It 1 week ago

1. Change facebook password to a really long, unmemorable, crazy password -i.e. s839rw9asxdkfskafjs98py3984r9hf

2. Change email password that is linked to your facebook account with same crazy password (also, if email asks for you to give an answer to a secret question and answer, use same crazy password for secret answer. This will prevent you from telling facebook you forgot your password and then they send you a new password to the email account).

3. Write crazy password down on a piece of paper. Store this password at another location where you do not have access to facebook (i.e. workplace, a friend’s house, etc.)

4. Bring the paper home from time to time to check facebook. Or, from your non-facebook access location (they block it where I work), send the password to a second email address that you can check at home. Cut and paste password into FB. Delete email when done checking (and empty email trash). I check FB about twice a week using this system. Or send FB password to self using
http://mailtothefuture.org This is a website where you can send an email to yourself and you can specify when you want it sent to you.

Hope this makes sense.

I don’t want to be addicted to FACEBOOK!
It’s making me a procrastinator. :/

well. 4 months ago

I’ve realised that there is obviously NO point at all to it. It’s so pointless. I have sooooooo much more I want to do. Read, watch movies, learn anything, chat, whatever. What’s the point of chatting on Fb? It’s sooooo boring, and it lags. At least it does for me. So annoying. And the photo tagging, grr. First, I think it’s very important to delete those widgets or whatever you use to check fb without going onto fb. They just make you want to go on it more. And, think of things you want to do reaally badly, but don’t have time to because of… grr… facebook.

I’ve started to limit myself to 10 minutes a day. And that’s just to reply to wall posts. ONLY. I will overcome my addiction! >:)

facebook change. 9 months ago

so i’ve changed this goal to a facebook goal, seeing as to how i log into facebook WAY too often. i’m limiting myself to 3 times per day. once in the morning, once after lunch, and once late at night.

i will start tomorrow, since i think i’ve already checked it more than thrice today. although i’m limiting myself to one more time today.

onward and upward through this procrastination business!

Definitely better 12 months ago

In earlier times, The second I would wake up I would get on facebook. I was just dying to know I have get tagged in any pictures, someone cool wrote on my wall, and just to see if anything interesting was going on that I could see by status updates.
The worst thing is when this guy that I really liked kind of broke things off. Looking at his facebook page 25 times a day was not helping me get over him. So I had to be dramatic. I deactivated my facebook for about a month. This really helped me get out of the habit of getting on facebook all the time. Now that I’ve reactivated it I look at it maybe once a day. This addiction is something that I need to keep check and balances on. I don’t want to slip back to my old ways!

Yes, this is one of my guiltiest pleasures! AGHHH! I don’t want facebook to take over my freaking life! I spend entirely too much time on facebook rather than studying. I am with you people on this. Lets do it together and stop clicking aimlessly on facebook!
