Sister came up with this wonderful idea- getting together for a French class every Friday. Each week, one of us prepares the material- a text to discuss and a song to fill out the lyrics to. Lesson 1 last week was so much fun! Gathering together, the four sisters, around the table, each with a copy of the text to be studied, taking turns in reading, looking up words and verbs in the Larousse, sharing what we’ve understood, laughing at each others’ mistakes and singing Comme d’Habitude! Tomorrow’s lesson is mine to prepare, and I’m so looking forward to it:)

LL has an empty space beside her, where Matty belongs.
Well, I have completed a year’s worth of French lessons, and didn’t do too badly… would have been better, I have to admit, if I’d not reverted to the incredibly lazy study habits that served me so poorly in both high school and university.
Have had to defer classes for this 2006… hoping to be in Europe by May this year, so won’t be around for the whole semester. And as I’m planning to be there for a couple of years, I felt I needed to spend that class-time enjoying the company of family and friends (whom I’m going to miss like crazy when I go).
At least I know that in France I’ll be able to get by with some of the basics… and more importantly, I have my pick-up line sorted… he he heh!
I learned French for 8 years at school and it was always my favorite subject. I loved it. I sat for DELF and spent a week in Vendome, France. There was a time when my French was really good, but since I changed schools I’ve stopped practising it at all, and I feel I’ve forgotten most of it. It’s been ages since I last spoke, read of written anything in French. Here’s what I need to do:
1- Read books in French. I can even start with rereading ones I already have, just to get the flow of it back.
2- Get back in touch with my few friends in France. We used to write regularly, but then it was me who stopped. I feel so bad about it, but I keep putting it off, especially with the feeling it would be an enormous and difficult task now to sit and write something proper. W
3- Watch French movies and shows. I only have access to TV5, but it’ll do!
4- Help my brother with his French homework and reading. He hates it.. why not make it more enjoyable to him?
And when it’s back again, I want to sit for DALF. I don’t know when I’ll ever be able to do that; It’s gonna be hard with my difficult courses at uni… but somehow I’ll make time for it!
Any other suggestions?
