How I did it: We walked. That's it. We trained a few times together, we signed up on the website of the event organisation, and then on The Day we walked 30 km.
Okay, we also raised funds. We did this by asking everyone we know if they would check out our website and consider donating. A lot of people did, mostly people from the Netherlands. In total we raised €1000. We thought that was pretty impressive.

We’ll be doing 30 km on Saturday October 15th. Please if you can, check out the website and consider doing a donation for us (just mention ‘TheWalk’ when you donate) – we would be ever so grateful!

Another training session will be done today, with 20 (!) km to be covered. Eek! That’s okay. We need to do 30 km in October and it is approaching fast so we better step up. We have done another training in the mean time since my last entry by the way. We’re doing good. The only thing is that my friend can be a bit slow sometimes. She wanders. That is fine but when you need to cover so many kilometres, you need to keep the speed up. I hope her man will convince her to step it up.
Also, as the title says, we have decided on the charity we’ll walk for! It will be… [drumroll] NAMASTE! Yes, hg~happiness’ organisation doing good stuff in Nepal. What we like about it is the elements of education and literacy, which makes people more resilient to change they don’t need or want as well as more capable of shaping their world into a situation they do need or want. What we especially like about NAMASTE is the attention it pays to the local culture. I believe that culture is the core of how we see ourselves and how we carry ourselves to others. It is important that people are in charge of that themselves, and that it is not undermined. More on http://namastenepal.org/.
YES! You will be asked to donate too. :) Hang on, I will be asking you to donate in our names in due course so we will know how much our charity walk has yielded. That would be nice. A website will be launched about our efforts soon. Stick around, tune in, etc. We’ll get it up and running soon and I’ll let you know.

So far we have had two training sessions, both about 12 km. The first was with the kiddies on our backs and took 5 hours so that was a bit of a challenge but okay. The next will be on June 4 followed by a night out together. Yay! :)
Only problem is that we haven’t found a charity yet that we agree on. Suggestions are welcome. 2 years ago
