I have registered for two at the moment- one to benefit the March of Dimes, and the other is the Avon Breast Cancer 2-Day event.
How to do a charity walk
How I did it: Volunteered through my job. I'd suggest looking up neighborhood charity walks, we have Relay for Life all the time here! Volunteering is a great thing and its not hard to get up and walk for a few hours. Plus its exercise!
People doing this are also doing these things:

I am doing my senior exit project on Child Abuse and I want to put together a charity walk to benefit Prevent Child Abuse America
I have done a lot of charity walks and are planning to do many more. I have done the March for babies, Race for the Cure, Ect… I am going to do the c.f. walk coming up soon and the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk. I do these so that not as many people have to suffer what so many already have.
woke up at the crack of dawn with my mother & walked in the race for the cure!
i’ve done alot of charity walks. SIDS, breast cancer, MS, etc…. you are not only doing this for a cause but its good for you.
I did the Sport Relief Mile last year and next Saturday am dong the Race For Life. They’re so much fun to do! I totally recommend it! Technically it was running, but we walked up the massive hill! =P
I’ve always wanted to do some kind of charity walk but just never really got around to it. Actually that’s not true – I did Cancer Research UK’s “Race For Life” a few years ago but haven’t done anything since.
Now I’ve decided it’s time to start ‘doing’ again, so I’m going to join the RNIB’s (Royal National Institute for the Blind) Great Wall of China trek next year.
My Father was registered blind about 5 years ago and the charity has been very supportive. They have many useful products and services (audio books, local news on tape, talking watches etc) and with their assistance he overcame his initial depression and now carries on with his life as normally and happily as he did before he lost his sight (barring a few obvious limitations!!). I cannot imagine how he’d be now without that help, so I feel I’d like to do something in return. It’s not open to register yet, but there’s no harm in planning in advance – I guess I’d better start training!!
I did the Aids walk in Hamilton with the McMaster GLBT Club. I made lots of great friends at the club after that, and learned that walking backwards for over a km uses LOTS of muscles that aren’t normally used… I was a sore but happy girl the next day!
bethieb enjoying the sunshine!
I’ll participate in my 4th Arthritis Walk on May 6, 2007. I’ve had rheumatoid arthritis for 31 years (since I was 13). The Walks have been the only chance I’ve had to raise some money, raise awareness, and hopefully make a difference. Everyone who participates is so upbeat and positive, and it makes for a really fun day.
