have a Beowulf-themed dinner party, with no silverware, a few outrageous fights, and lots of mead

Its been about a year since I made this goal.

It hasn’t happened.

Most of the people I was going to invite are either leaving or have already left for college.

I’m leaving, possibly the country, in February for two years.

Unfortunately, this will have to wait until after then, and it’ll probably be a completely different group of people.

So I’d never had mead before. I had some at a Christmas party with friends yesterday- it was amazing! We drank the bottle and wanted more… bought some today at this little shop in a small town on the way back to LA. I need several more bottles for this party… 5 years ago

First, I’m re-reading Beowulf. As I do this I’m also looking for non-alcholoic alternatives to mead. Butter-beer, ginger-ale, root-beer, birch-beer, and the like, probably all homemade preferably.

Afterwards I plan on spreading the good word and trying to convinve people to take it seriously, or at least as serious as one gets with a Beowulf dinner party. 5 years ago
