Endrina - crap rarely falls from clear skies
- bookshelf
- boxes for sewing gear
- lamp
- carpet
How I did it: Planned to go there w/Espenius after work, took the bus, found our new furniture (we've
bought a bookshelf and a couch) paid for it. Now all we have to do is put the parts together...
Lessons & tips: First of all - make a PLAN: decide what you want to buy!
No.2: CAR to bring home all those goodies you've planned to buy.
No.3: CREDIT CARD
No.4: PATIENCE for those long queues
Resources: The most valuable resource was without doubt Espenius' dad, who fetched us in his car!

I hate this! I live like a gazillion miles from the nearest Ikea, and their online options are limited, to say the least. Come On, Ikea! Throw me a freakin bone, here. I’d spend so much money if I just COULD! haha.
I have bought from there. It will take most of an afternoon to browse the store.

We went to Ikea on a whim today … fun! But there were so many people, it was hard to look at things. Next time, we’ll go prepared with a list from the website.
We got two CD/DVD towers that we’ll put next to our bookshelves to store our movies on. Donald put one together tonight and it looks great! We also got a rug, shower curtain, and a couple of towels for the orange bathroom, something I’d really been hoping to do but was having no luck. We picked up a globe for the overhead light fixture without one, a couple of oven mitts for Donald, new cutting boards for a buck, and four $3 CD racks to organize the CDs by the stereo. I put the CDs on the rack and reorganized the shelves, and it’s tons better. Yay!

Yeah, Ikea stuff is not the highest quality, but it is very affordable and kind of trendy. When I got my first job out of college and didn’t have much money, having an Ikea nearby when I moved into my first apartment was a lifesaver! (Well, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea…)
I love shopping there! I don’t go there very often since it’s far so everytime I go there’s always something new!
IKEA stuff…
...is cheap
...doesn’t go out of fashion easily
...doesn’t fall apart after two weeks
However, IKEA also…
...is very commercial
...is the same stuff all your friends already have
...has names for all their articles (yikes!)
...gets really boring
...is always crowded
Thus, I will admit to the fact that I own several IKEA stuffs, but I try not to shop there anymore :)
...makes you buy stuff you don’t need

I love this place, we have one here in Houston. I don’t go there much but when I do need cheap home furnishings thats the first place I go! :)

even heard of IKEA until a couple of years ago. Thankfully they just built one that’s within an easy driving distance of my house. Most of their furniture is more modern than I like, but it’s well-made and it’s a good place to get things if you’re on a budget. I particularly like how IKEA demonstrates the possibilities of living in small spaces. : )
