Here it is pictured with the one of the chairs that we ordered that has arrived. I think two will be without arms. I’m not sure, sanvea ordered the chairs.

As usual, I learned a lot and had tremendous fun making it. Also as usual, it isn’t professional grade but I’m still pleased enough with it.

I am building this vineyard table which I discovered has free plans downloadable from the internet after I bought the book in which this very chapter appears. The other tables are nice though, and I wouldn’t have known what a vineyard table was if it weren’t for having bought the book in the first place.

Anyway. It should be called woodplaying as I have so much fun doing this. I spent 25 or 30 hours on it over the weekend with no effort at all. Next time, I’ll have to set an alarm to remind me to eat and drink some water as I went all day Saturday until my stomach was growling and I looked at my watch only to discover that it was 11 pm!

I am building it out of maple. I briefly considered teak, but then after looking at some teak in the hardwood shop I figure it would be cheaper to build a table out of solid gold than to build one out of teak. Maple has been really nice. Working my jack plane on the tabletop was a new learning experience.

And, as usual, my projects are excuses to buy a new tool. This time, it was a bandsaw. I am very pleased with it and all the curvey bits turned out pretty well. Not quite as well as the book’s examples, but then, I’m not writing a book.

Also, given how sore I am from all the sanding (yes, belt sanders are like weight lifting!) and lifting and shaping and stuff, I have used this as a “gym alternative.”

I’ll post pictures when it’s done. It is too late for a blow by blow like I did for the shelves, but it is also not as interesting because this was not my own design.
