I’ve fiddled around with my brother’s guitar every now and again, but always given up. I’ve generally felt I’ve lacked the patience for it and figured, there’s so many people already way better than I’ll ever be so why try it.
But I think I might be ready to take it a bit more seriously now. . . I think it might pay off down the road if I can stick with it for a while. I feel like I need a more creative element in my life.

My aim is to learn how to play “let me be there” by olivia newton john on the guitar. i want to play this song to my best friends, my boyfriend and also my family members, because they are the ones who are always there to catch me when i fall, shed tears for me, and they are definitely there to make me laugh.
this is the perfect song to dedicate to them. i can’t wait to get started.

I’m sure this was the first one I learned when I took lessons

When I was 9 years old my parents bought me a guitar and I began taking lessons. There were three things that I didn’t like –
1. Learning notes instead of chords -it was tedious and you couldn’t play the kind of music that I wantd to with them
2. Having to keep my nails very short in order to hold down the strings properly – my nails were always too long and I would end up muting all the strings
3. Practicing! I never wanted to practice, I just wanted the talent to come to me in my sleep.
Now, it’s ten years later. I know I’m never going to be a musician, but it would be nice to be able to play just ONE song really well on the guitar. I don’t think that’s asking too much. It would probably be “Wonderwall” by Oasis or “Green Eyes” by Coldplay. Or who knows, maybe dedication will strike me and it will be both.
But it would be really nice to be able to pick up a guitar and make actual music with it.
