    Queen 17 months ago

I want the last song I ever hear before I am burried to be Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. At my wake, I want them to play most of Queen’s catalog and AC/DC’s Highway To Hell. I want some Journey songs played at my funeral, along with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

There are some things that aren’t fun to talk or think about, but they’re necessary. My grandma always told me: “You plan to buy a car, a house, and have kids, but who truly plans to die? You need to save for a funeral and plan the details just like you would any other celebration. You have to buy a headstone, coffin, and plot just like you’d rent chairs, tables, and a DJ. For this is a celebration of your life. This is the most important celebration of all. At your funeral people are celebrating you. So be sure they can feel your presence in every song, flower, and poem.”

    My grandma rocks.

Brad Paisley & Dolly Partons When I get Where I am Going

Truthfully I havent that hard about what songs I want played at my funeral! My husband knows I want atleast that song played. I am going to ponder this a little bit.

When I get where I’m going
on the far side of the sky.
The first thing that I’m gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly.

I’m gonna land beside a lion,
and run my fingers through his mane.
Or I might find out what it’s like
To ride a drop of rain

    (Chorus:)
Yeah when I get where I’m going,
    there’ll be only happy tears.
I will shed the sins and struggles,
I have carried all these years.
And I’ll leave my heart wide open,
I will love and have no fear.
Yeah when I get where I’m going,
Don’t cry for me down here.

I’m gonna walk with my grandaddy,
and he’ll match me step for step,
and I’ll tell him how I missed him,
    every minute since he left.
    Then I’ll hug his neck.

    (Chorus)

So much pain and so much darkness,
in this world we stumble through.
All these questions, I can’t answer,
    so much work to do.

But when I get where I’m going,
and I see my Maker’s face.
I’ll stand forever in the light,
    of His amazing grace.
Yeah when I get where I’m going,
    there’ll be only happy tears.
    Hallelujah!
I will love and have no fear.
When I get where I’m going.
Yeah when I get where I’m going.

    Oh and 2 years ago

I forgot songs for my hubby’s funeral. This entry is going to be quick or I’ll have a panic attack. The thought of him dying literally cripples me. Man, I suck.

    • “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica
    • “Goodbye Girl” by Hootie & the Blowfish
    • “Oceans” by Pearl Jam

My List So Far... 2 years ago

I always feel like I’m going to die young, I dunno why. Maybe I’m just morbid like that. In any case, I’ve compiled a list of songs that I like for my own funeral:

    • “Dust in the Wind” by Kansas
    • “Memories” by Elvis
    • “Looking Through Your Eyes” by Leann Rimes
    • “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men (I think)
    • “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
    • “Meet You There” by Simple Plan
    • “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan

It’s funny how my control issues extend to my own funeral.

    This has gotta stop! AUGH!
