Paul is staying up too late once again
I’ve done pretty well on the exercise side of things, running about 25 miles a week on average and doing a little strength work in between. The food side has not been consistent enough the last few months. I’ve been realy slacking-off on the WW point counting. That’s going to have to me my focus for the beginning of this year.
Challenge Result on 31-Dec-2008: 225.0 lbs., 35 lbs. Short of goal.

Weighed in this morning at 190! I was a little worried, because I ate a lot of pizza and garlic fingers last night, but I still made my goal.

...weighing in at 191.5 pound…
Exactly my goal weight for today. One and a half pounds to drop in the next week to meet my personal challenge goal. I can totally do it. I’m still on my no-junk food plan, still vegetarian, still walking everywhere. Man, I haven’t been this thin since, let’s see, around 2001.
I’ve still got a bit of a flabby gut, of course. I’ll need to drop below 180 to get rid of that, I think. I’ve definitely got to do some weight training, or at least pumping out a few pushups and incline situps every day. Going for tone, not bulk.

In the 1980’s, everyone thought that the average woman should be thin, thinner, or at the thinnest, kind of like the models of today;) There was a picture that I found of myself at 180#. O to be 180# now! If you are young and think you are not thin enough, go eat something nutritious, and don’t worry about it. If you eat good food, you will be at your optimum weight. Don’t let anyone tell you any different!

So much chili
Eaten too much the past couple of days. Made a big pot of chili on Monday, and I’m still eating the leftovers. The good news is that it should be finished at lunch time today. It’s vegetarian, and I still haven’t eaten any junk food, but I’m feeling bloated from all the chili. I’ve got to cut back on portions if I want to hit this goal by the 25th of July.

Weighed in this morning at 194 pounds. Pretty good, considering I was at 197 last week. So, to get down to 190 by my friends’ wedding, I’ve got to lose 2 pounds per week for the next two weeks. Still going to continue the no junk food rule, and keep exercising.

Three weeks
So, starting Saturday I’m cutting out junk food completely for the next three weeks. “Junk food,” in my opinion, includes:
- chips
- chocolate bars
- candy
- heavily salted snacks like peanuts and sunflower seeds
- cakes, pies, cookies, sweet snacks like twinkies and chocolate puddings, etc.
- sweet drinks
It does not include
- an after dinner mint
- tea or coffee (but easy on the sugar – none at all if possible)
- fruit juice
- unsalted nuts
There are a few things I’m on the fence on, like hot chocolate. I love it, but should it count as junk food? Probably, even though I had one this morning.

Well, my weight loss seems to be leveling off. I only lost half a pound last week and one pound this week. Ideally, I’d like to be down to 190 by the 25th of July, so I can look good for my friends’ wedding. That gives me three weeks to shed 7 pounds. Maybe not quite realistic, but possible. If I can get down to 195 I’ll be satisfied, though not ecstatic.
So, going to have to put in some extra work for the next three weeks. Have to do more walking and maybe add a new exercise to my routine. Running? Basketball? Tennis? Also going to have to cut the junk food completely for the next three weeks. I don’t eat much junk as it is, but I had a Blizzard at DQ last night that I didn’t really need. As a bonus, not eating junk will save me a little moolah, too.
So, 2.3` per week for the next three weeks. I’m going to need luck for this, especially considering tonight is poker night and that’s always a “stuff your face” night. Maybe I’ll bring some fruit.

I’m down to 200. Drop another 10 lbs in 6 weeks or so. Possible? Should be. Probable? Might need a bit more than 6 weeks, but we shall see.

Paul is staying up too late once again
Official kick-off weight for this Big Hairy Audacious Goal on 28-Nov-2007 is 307.8 lb. Yikes! As of this past Sunday, I’m at 284.4 lb. and down 23.4 lb. I’m still half a pound behind where I need to be to meet the goal but I’ve been catching-up for the past few weeks. This week has been fun with a 1 mile run and a 2 mile run yesterday.
