On the road again 2 weeks ago

I’ve slacked off of this goal a little as of late, but I’m back in gear again now! I got all of my supplies out today and went and bought some more beads to use as the heads. I also picked up some really cute wooden boxes that I’m going to start putting them in, probably in sets of 5 or 6? Right now I’m wanting to work on making some for my family members and friends, then I think I’m going to start taking them to craft shows.

Where are the best instructions? 4 weeks ago

I have wanted to make these for awhile now, but the smallest dolls I have found instructions for are 2-3 inches high. Does someone have good instructions for the 1-1.5 inch ones?

I love making these! 2 months ago

I finally had the time to sit down and make one of these the other day! I think it turned out really cute, so last night I sat down and made 2 more! I create jewelry so at the end of each evening when I’m cleaning up my studio from whatever project I was working on, I sit down and make 1. I’ll try to post pictures here soon!

The ones I made didn't look like THAT! 7 months ago

I made them for an art class for 6-8 year olds.
The smaller hands used popsicle sticks, and the bigger hands used twisties.

I should have taken pictures!

Did you use toothpicks for that one? What did you use for the head?

My friend’s birthday present. She has heard from other people about my worry dolls, but she has never personally seen them, except the tiny ones I made for my brother. She has been asking to see them for a while. Of course that could happen any day of the world if she came over here, but she is always off doing something fabulous, so I made her one of her own. =)

My very beloved friend... 10 months ago

...is moving away. Some of us are putting together a little book of thoughts for her. One neighbor is collecting all the pages and another is going to put them into a beautiful book.

Well I couldn’t resist making a worry doll to go along with my note. The lady collecting all the letters almost cried when she saw it because she said it looked exactly like our friend. I made her playing the flute, and can you believe it, I didn’t scan it or take a picture of it or anything before I took it over to her. Now I need to make another one for myself and scan it. I can make a whole orchestra to go with it. It’ll be great! =)

They loved their gifts!!! 1 year ago

We went to Phoenix to meet the brother & sister-in-law at my mom’s today so I could give them their birthday presents.

They were astonished by the chair I made. They kindly made a big deal out of it. Then they were totally blown away over the miniature people and notebook full of biographies and photos.

They asked me how I came up with such intricate gifts, so I mentioned making worry dolls, and to my great surprise, they didn’t know what I was talking about. I went & got the box of worry dolls that I made for my mom 10 years ago and showed them what worry dolls were. They were impressed yet again.

Also during our visit, I went back to my grandma’s room and finished her Rubik’s Cube, which she had been waiting for me to re-learn. Then my sister-in-law saw it and shouted, “I was just in there and saw that thing all messed up!”

This day was supposed to be celebrating their b-days, but it definitely turned out to be about me and my talents.

Big smile! =D

Technically, not a DOLL... 1 year ago

...but look how freakin’ CUTE it is!!!

This one is for my sister-in-law, who collects miniature chairs, but I’m considering doing a little “birthstone” line of them to give away or sell.

What do you think? Would people buy them?

I decided on 12 1 year ago

If you click on the picture, what you will see is bigger than actual size. They are “Z” scale . . . I hope!

My brother is getting detailed biographies, but here’s the list of who’s who. It’s the Tiny Passenger Manifest. ;D

Mrs. Anna Sophia Warren
Age 60. Curly gray hair, pink dress with pink chiffon shawl, long white gloves.

Mr. Carl Olof Jansson
Age 21. Short reddish brown hair, brown suit with high white collar, bow tie.

Mr. Peter Dennis Daly
Age 51. Wavy gray hair, gray mustache, black suit with white ascot, white gloves.

Miss Elizabeth Walton Allen
Age 29. Fluffy brown hair, yellow dress with sparkly train, long white gloves.

Mr. Albert Francis Caldwell
Age 26. Blonde hair, gray double-breasted suit with high white collar.

Mr. Algernon Henry Wilson Barkworth
Age 47. Brown hair, brown mustache, tan suit, hat & cane, white gloves.

Miss Mary Katherine “Katie” Gilnagh
Age 16. Long auburn hair in French twist with sparkly blue barrette, blue dress with tulle overlay.

The Dean Family
Mother, Ettie: curly brown hair with sparkly purple barrette, short-sleeved lavender dress. Holding baby.
Baby, Millvina: Nine-week-old baby girl, black tuft of hair, pink blankie. (Youngest survivor, still alive…?)
Little boy, Bertram: Age 1¾. Dark brown hair, blue suit, blue hat. (died on the 80th anniversary of the sinking)
Father, Frank: Black hair, black suit with high white collar, black bow tie, white gloves. (Did not survive)

Mr. Joseph Bruce Ismay
Age 49. Black hair parted in middle, black mustache. Black suit. (Owned White Star Line. Allegedly, the one who ordered that the lifeboats on one side of the ship be removed for the purpose of having nicer pictures. Another passenger reported witnessing his rescue ~ He sat huddled and muttering, “I’m Ismay. I’m Ismay.” His obituary mentioned nothing about the Titanic or even the shipbuilding business.)
