Library use at the moment 10 months ago

I moved to an other country for a while and have only three books with me so I’ll be regular at the library.

I study to become a librarian and work at the monent in a library on an other city (my home-hometown), but when I return to my study-hometown I’d like to be more active user of that library. Especially bacause they are opening the old part of the library again after over year of renovation. It will be so nice to not to have to use the cramped temporary library.

    A Walk 20 months ago

For the first time since we moved to our house on the east side of town, I took a walk to the library. It was the first sunny day we had in a long time and I was itching to get out. The walk was twenty minutes one way. It took me through a small neighborhood park and pass quiet neighborhood streets. I arrived at the library just as the high school next door let out. The sun and activity, the noise and energy of the young people around me, was invigerating.

In the library I browsed the New Yorker for awhile. Then I picked up the book I had on-hold and walked back. This was a wonderful departure from my usual routine. I need to get out more.

So, I finished The Historian and I am now starting Chuck Palahniuk’s Fugitives and Refugees. I am happy to report that I haven’t bought any books so far this year, per my New Year’s resolution.

I love the library 23 months ago

I go through phases where I read a lot and then don’t real a lot. I just went through a “have to buy my own books” binge and then re-discovered the Library! And it’s only 5 minutes out of the way on the way home from work. Don’t know why I always forget about the library, but it’s part of me again!

I feel like there is this big secret that everyone has been keeping from me. Its the LIBRARY!!!! Fuck consumerism borrow books for freeee!

I have a new love. This goal is going to be easy to keep. I went today and returned a video I checked out and borrowed a slow cooker cookbook and made a delicious meal tonight from it, I borrowed books on how to buy a home and I got the book I ordered. China Inc. Pretty interesting after just browsing the first page. I’m going to go read it now. YEAY!

I’m marking this off as DOONE. I LOOOVE my library!

fiiiinally went today 1 year ago

I finally visited my local library today. I’ve lived in my house for about 3 years and live only about 2 miles from the local library. It had been so long since I had been I was no longer in the library system so i got a new card and check out 2 books and a movie. It was all sparked because My husband heard about a book he wanted to read and was going to buy it at the book store. Its a current events non fiction political book so its something you read once and maybe pass along.

Its funny I was kind of happy with the books I browsed through. lots of new contemporary book. I some how link libraries with lame book reports and needing lame old books to write something I dont want to. While books stores are all great and fancy and new.. ha. I know its a little ridiculous but my prejudice is gone. I just wish browsing books was just as easy at a library as it was at a book store. Thats my only complaint.

Anyway I’m pretty happy. I am planning on making library trips when I’m thinking about buying a book instead. Browse the book store for what I want then order it for free locally.

amyrun77 Twilight totally is ripping off the Sookie Stackhouse books!

I'll Keep Doing This 2 years ago

I got three more books from the library today and have a whole list of books that I want to borrow. I will keep doing this. I have read so many different kinds of books that I wouldn’t have bought since I started doing this. It has also saved me a lot of money that I would have spent on books. It is definately worth doing.
