How to learn to wolf whistle
How I did it: After watching countless tutorials and finding the right one for me, I went to my bathroom and closed the door, to be sure not to interrupt anyone, and just went for it for about an hour. It started off sounding simply like a rush of air with no noise, but as I continued, it grew into a broken whistle all the way into a scream.
Lessons & tips: The best thing to do while watching/reading tutorials is not to follow every direction so closely. For example, I was instructed to tighten my lips, but I find that relaxing the lips works just as well if not better for me. Also, do not be afraid of not getting it the first time around, there's really no fun in learning it if you just get it off the bat.
While practicing, do not be afraid to shift your fingers and lips around to find the perfect spot for sound production. It doesn't matter if it isn't picture perfect compared to your guide, as long as you are producing your target sound with ease and comfort.

I’m moving to the bigger ‘whistle with both my hands’ community..for kicks I guess. This is looking pretty hopeless though. All the, “I sat down for a few hours today and learned it- I feel awesome!” are depressing me. I’ve been practicing about an hour a day for a month now with no luck. I think I’m defective.
I went here today: http://www.tapeonline.com/blog/post.aspx?postid=29
and it kinda helped. I made a little noise for a second but haven’t been able to replicate it. My boyfriend keeps cheering me on though. Maybe one day I’ll get it. I hope it’s soon!
I just learned how to do the cupped two handed whistle. Still no wolf-whistle though and I’ve somehow forgotten what I was able to do last night! Noooo….
I just got a low whistle after looking at the videos you linked to. Thanks! Next step- getting my first grader’s attention with a delightful ear-piercing whistle. I’ll never have to yell again. yay!
Fancy whistlin’, might as well tell that I got it down pat. But “pat” isn’t too loud; I think that might be a common problem for whistling noobs.
The trick? I just found occasions to whistle every day. My dog is very confused. At first I’d sit down and try to get it louder and louder but it just made me out of breath. It didn’t map to my brain where the fingers needed to be. But I kept doing it (no real good reason, usually) and eventually my fingers learned the right place to go.
Where do I go from here? I’m thinking a thorough learning of catcalls. Round out my skills.
Haha. Just. Kidding.
Toots.
well, i just learned how to whistle (kinda), after a solid 18 years of trying. so i figure, by the time im 36, i shouold have it down pat. no rush.
