well shoot, seems that the preznit is jumping on board with this whole fuel conservation thang. He delivered a rousing speach to the nation, after his 7th trip via private 747 jet to Louisiana and Texas. If you all could take the bus to work, or walk, and switch off household and office appliances when yer done with them, that would make a huge difference.
But don’t worry! Energy waste is an American way of life, if you just let us drill in designated wilderness in Alaska and other places on American territory, like we planned to anyway, we will get through this! Those good, wholesome construction companies, like Haliburton, that are making the new, cleaner, whiter New Orleans should also be allowed to waive minimum wage and some safety laws on their non-local labor too, as we need to get this job DONE. You mustn’t let a little personal greed (like wanting a fair wage) get in the way of this project. We all have to pull together, folks!
Yes, pillage and plunder in the hurricanes’ wake.
From a list I am on:
The Boeing 747 jet engine uses approximately 1 gallon of fuel every second. According to Boeing’s Web site, the 747 burns approximately 5 gallons of fuel per mile.
It is a 4 hour flight one way from Washington D.C. to New
Orleans or about 28,800 gallons of fuel per round trip, for a total of 201,600 gallons at a cost to the American tax payers of $614,880.00 so that one man can view the destruction first hand, SEVEN TIMES.
This does not include fuel for Marine 1, an Apache helicopter which is about 1/3 as fuel efficient as a 747 that is flown separately to Louisiana and Texas so that George Bush can take 1 hour viewing flights over the devastated areas.
If I were to curtail all my trips by car and motorbike, and not drive ever again, it would take me 364 years to save 201,600 gallons of fuel at my current rate of consumption.
Thanks Prez! We’ll do our bit. How about you?
