I’ve been playing guitar for about 5 years but I just recently taught myself how to read music. I bought this book and have been slowly going through scales and songs and I am almost done :] There are 7 of these books so after I finish this one I will defiantly have enough to keep me busy. Also one of my friends plays the drums so I think we will start practicing together. The best way to get better at the guitar is keep one in your hands as much as possible.

I started playing at the start of ‘08, at school, but the teacher at school taught me nothing. So I got a private teacher & he was great, I started to learn the chords & I learnt to read tab and play some songs, but with notes. I haven’t practiced much, but I hope to soon, because we moved, and I lost my awesome teacher, so I want to get lessons off my friend who plays guitar well. : )
I’m a rythm guitarist, recently (ie in the past 2 years) have learnt to play barre chords which opened up a whole new world of guitar playing.
Now I want to learn more about chord progressions and scales, and even loearn how to drop a few solos over the progressions.
My baby is an Ibanez Artcore AFS75T
I know the basics, i can play some tabs, and i learning sheet music, but i want to get really good.
I already have some of the basics, I can play and sing etc. But I want to learn the theory.
You know, I started playing about 4 years ago (I think – I can’t even remember), I’m self-taught and have been just downloading tab and learning songs …
... but it’s not enough anymore. My playing dropped right off; I stopped learning new stuff; and quite frankly, I was playing better a couple of years ago!
My new girlfriend gave me a bunch of lessons as a xmas gift and (after I got past the “man, does she think I sound that bad” when I know she loves my playing) I went along to see what he had to offer.
Now, I’m playing morning and night, not for too long mind you, and have gone back to basics a little. The guy reckons I’ll be playing better than ever in about 3 months.
Bring it on I say!
Set aside at least two hours per day to practice in the studio. Shut off the phone, television, and spend at least
an hour on a specific riff or song. The second hour can be for experimenting on the guitar. (Not learning recording techniques, software, etc.)
Record your practices on the four track analog.
