Well as a staring point. libertarian: “A person who upholds the principles of individual liberty especially of thought and action.” Libertarian: a member of a political party advocating libertarian principles.
Libertarians believe in, and pursue, personal freedom while maintaining personal responsibility.
Liberals tend to value personal freedom. Conservatives tend to value economic freedom. Libertarians value both. Statists are against both. 4 years ago

In Texas they have early voting for approximately two weeks prior to election day, which makes voting extremely convenient. I was able to go to a local grocery store today (on the WEEKEND) and vote. My vote has been cast and my voice will be heard once the votes begin to be tallied on Nov 7.
Remember to vote, everyone! 6 years ago

Tonight my husband and I put up the two yard signs that came with our campaign package. This was sorta hard for us because we have no yard… Finally we picked out a good roadside spot amongst some other signs that wasn’t too far from our apartment. We drive by the place everyday so I can smile at our signs and so I will remember to take the signs down after election day.
It feels really good to have been politcally active this year—especially in such a grass-roots, non-confrontational way. As soon as I vote, I will mark this goal accomplished. 6 years ago

The door-hangers are finally up! My husband helped me and we put up about 150 of them over lunch break. There’s still around 40 left, but that’s no big deal—we can knock those out later this week. I’m so relieved that they are up, just in time for early voing. I was worried that I might not follow through with it. 6 years ago

James Werner has been recently excluded from the televised gubernatorial debate to take place on Friday, October 6th in Dallas, but now the UT-Austin campus will have a unique opportunity to hear the Libertarian “Fifth Candidate” speak on the upcoming November election.
The Libertarian Longhorns student group will be hosting Texas gubernatorial candidate James Werner and District 10 Congressional Candidate Michael Badnarik on October 16, 2006 in the Geology Building at the University of Texas at Austin campus, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. 6 years ago

Government: “It does not keep the country free. It does not settle the West. It does not educate. The character inherent in the American people has done all that has been accomplished; and it would have done somewhat more, if the government had not sometimes got in its way.” -Henry David Thoreau 6 years ago

My husband talked about the Libertarian party with his dad… It all started when I put a door hanger on their front door. His dad promised to throw it away, his mom promised to read it.
I tried putting up door hangers with candy, but they were too heavy and all fell down after awhile. I will try again sans candy on a day with no wind. 6 years ago

I think I’m going to attach candy to the fliers so I feel like less of a nuisance. 6 years ago

I just found the TX Libertarian website which has a list of all the LP candidates running in the TX November elections:
http://www.lptexas.org/candidates.shtml
Furthermore, I have decided to donate $25 with which I will help out all the poorly funded candidates along with receiving a nifty ‘standard campaign kit’ with which I can annoint my apartment complex with door hangers. 6 years ago

I signed up with the Austin Libertarian newsletter today. I was emailed an invitation to join, which is weird, because I don’t know how they could have gotten my address. But, good for them for being super sleuths—I’m now a subscriber. Maybe they have some good ideas for me to get involved. 6 years ago

To be a libertarian is to champion personal freedom, personal responsibility, and less governmental control. It’s what America should be about. 6 years ago
