I’m on world 8 at the castle and I can not figure out how to pass this!!!!! Any help?
How to beat Super Mario Bros. 3
How I did it: I finished this game and I was damn proud of myself, I love nintendo and all the mario games but there are a few tricks & secrets hidden in each level which will help you later on.
One thing that I found (although my cousin counts it as cheating) when you are on the "big world" after stage 5 or 6 there are 2 or 3 of those red bird things walking back and forth, one of them has a wing. After you beat him and get the wing, pause the game and click on "save and quit". When you restart the game you'll be in big world again, you'll have to start from stage one again but when you get up to the bird thing repeat the save n quit technique, you can do this as many times as you like, and when u get to world 8 just use all your wings to fly through all the hard levels!
BTW when u have enough wings, restart the game and in the game menu u can select which world u want to go to, to get back to world 8! Just make sure u keep one wing for the final battle with bowser and u will "fly" right through it!
Lessons & tips: Whenever you find a raccoon tail, do a little run up until you hear a tinkle noise and then fly as high as you can, they are usually coin blocks and other goodies hidden up there!
Also, if u see one of those bouncy white clouds with the coin blocks jump on it and press upwards and u will be tossed up into the clouds to collect coins.
World 1 stage 3, towards the end of the level there are white clouds u can stand on. Jump up there and hold down, like u are ducking, mario will fall down and will be able to run behind everything, run to the end of the level and behind the black screen and u will find a magic whistle which u can use to go to other worlds.
Another hidden whistle is in world 1, 1st mini castle. You will need the raccoon tail for this. Run through the stage until u get to the door. DO NOT ENTER THE DOOR. Instead, crush the skeleton guy and do a run up and fly upwards to the right and press to the right, mario can walk across the top of the screen and then fall down into a hidden room containing the whistle.
If you have any froggy suits, save them for world 3 (and onwards) there are certain levels where u have to swim underwater and there are pipes with bubbles coming out but they won't let u pass through. If u are wearing a froggy suit u can swim straight through, where u will find hidden coins and other items.
There is so much more . . .

Two summers ago I played this every night after work for like 2 weeks and finally I was victorious. Now I just breeze through it.
The more I play this, the better I get. I can go through worlds one to six with no problem. I make sure I get a whistle and after Ice Land, I travel to world eight (Dark Land). Today I got through the first three ships okay. After using two P-wings for the next two levels, I got up to the first castle, but gave up after losing so much.
I’ve been playing this game almost every day in my free time. After practicing so much, I’m now really good at Sky Land and I’m getting comfortable with Ice World. Pipe Land is still a struggle for me, but I got through it (I used some P-wings though) and once I got to level two in world 8, I quit because I was running out of stuff to help me.
My brother did this several years ago and now I want to beat this game with a friend of mine although I don’t get to see her very often. In the meantime, I’ve been practicing. I’ve gotten to the last castle by myself before but I couldn’t beat Bowser for the life of me! Now I can get to World 5 with no problem and if I’m lucky, I can get up to Ice World but after that, things get so hard. I know a lot of secrets and even have the codes for the card games for extra stuff but I think I just need to keep practicing! I really do love this game and it’d be really awesome if I could just beat it!
Jason is a Night Auditor, who loves food.
It was most gratifying.
I actually think I might get a mario tattoo some day.
I love nintendo.
i get to world 8 at the end where u gotta fight koopa or w.e i can’t get past that. IT’S SO ANNOYING. i have like 40 lives and can’t get past it. ughhh. but i LOVE this game.
