Move away from home

Okay, so this doesn’t mean anything (yet) but I just got a call from my mom and she told me my aunt’s husband’s nephew (or something like that, I don’t know, isn’t that confusing enough anyway? :D) is moving together with his girlfriend and thus is renting out his current apartment. And well, I’ll get to know more next week, but if the rent isn’t too high I could possibly move there. :) Move there. My own apartment. Own home. I know nothing is sure yet, the rent might be way too much for me, but… I mean, first I got a job, then I get informed there might be a free apartment on the market soon, how on earth does this happen, once one thing gets sorted out all the others start unfolding as well? Gosh, getting a job and getting an apartment would be a dream come true. (fingers crossed, eh?)

home isn't a 'home' when it causes anxiety  — 3 months ago

It’s nothing in particular but no matter what, I’m going to move to my own place this year.

Worth doing!

Growing up in a small, rural town, away from the ever-busy life of the big cities is unique in so many ways. Fresh air, clean waters, small town parks, friendly neighbors. But life comes to a point where you need to venture out and see the sights, learn the ropes and move on to a busier life.

Myself, grew up in a small town in Michigan, born and raised there. It became time to venture out and move on to that point in life, leaving the mother’s nest. Anyone can do it, but its certainly not easy. So much to consider; what about jobs? Where will I live? Who will I know, if anyone? Moving away from what you’ve always known and had is taxing. Sometimes, the odds of moving away from home are even against your favor. The payoff of exploring and getting out and doing something new, however, can be great.

Get out there. Spread your wings. Explore. Learn. Do. Live.

Worth doing!

I moved an hour away from home for school, and it’s been one of the best experiences of my life. Next semester should be even better now that I won’t have a guy holding me back!

Need to get out of this God forsaken town!  — 9 months ago

I have hated this town ever since I can remember.
Population:- 7000
Atmosphere:- 0
No of population who can think for themselves, not willing to follow the crowd, nice, decent, open minded, non judgemental, down to earth:- lets say 50

It is a horrible narrow minded Welsh marketing town, whose people don’t give anyone a second chance, stick to their own little groups and refuse to let any outsiders in and dare I say, quite a few are inbred!

If I stay here for another 2 years and go to college like my father wants me to (I’m 18) I will suphocate! I need to get out. And when I do, I’ll never look back.

Why?  — 1 year ago

Worth doing!

The reason why this is worth doing is it really helps YOU to establish YOU. You really learn a lot about yourself and where you stand in the world and with other people. Granted it could be a negative experience when looked at outwardly, it could greatly effect you positively due to you using it as a learning experience.

Never Looking Back  — 1 year ago

Worth doing!

I turned 18 in August 2003, packed up my room and moved away. I wasn’t doing anything amazing, just going to college. I stayed away…about 4 months. After fall semester, a sprained ankle, pneumonia, a dropped class, and a 2.3 GPA I moved back home. I retreated to my old room. It wasn’t the same anymore. I wasn’t ‘home’. I knew I made a mistake moving back. I knew I had to try again. Moving out isn’t always what people imagine it to be. The freedom slowly turns into personal responsibility and accountability. I soon realized life at home was much easier, but once I finally moved back to Orange County and found my feet back on the ground, I knew I had made the leap. I work far more than I play, but I look around my apartment, MY apartment and I like what I see. I worked to get here, and I enjoy my humble home.

Worth doing!

From Iowa City, Iowa to Eugene, Oregon… 2000 miles from friends and family but so cool. Just driving out was amazing to see things other than corn.
