How I did it: I took out a pen and sheet of paper and made notes of the rules and drew pictures of the pieces and where they could move, took note of the special moves and finally where to play, I've also been offered a game IRL. Resources: Youtube |

How I did it: well when i was younger we used to visit my moms friends house. and she had a chess set on display in her sitting room and she taught me my brother and sister how to play in the beginnng i was really adicted to playing it. and i used to beg my dad to play it with me i even joined a chess club and took classes read books about it. then i got bored of it and couldn't stand it. How I did it: I started out thinking that maybe chess club might work. It didn't. The people there were simply too intense and focused on beating me, not helping me.So i then set of in search of a different way to learn chess, i bought a board, but ended up putting it in my basement because no one in my family knew how to play. So finally, i got a chess game for a phone and i played it in my spare time as well and searching the web for "how to play chess". Read how I did it…

My husband has a chess computer game on his new laptop and tried to teach me how to play yesterday. I still hardly know what I’m doing, and would still be almost completely lost without the guides that remind me what pieces can move where… But I’m hoping to stick with it and learn from habit and practice. We’ll see how it goes.
ETA: I won my first game against the computer (on level 1, of course) shortly after writing this. I beamed with pride for about 2 hours straight.

Well, I’m not that far on it yet. My brother got me the “Dangerous book for Boys” and it has a section on chess. So, so far, I’ve learned the formation of and what the rooks, pawns, queen, king, bishop, and knight are.

I know the basics of chess. Well… actually… I have a hard time remember the movements of each piece, so I guess if I don’t know that then I don’t know much at all. But it would come with more practice I’m sure. My ex bf taught me some of the basic rules a long time ago, and we played a few games. I ended up beating him once! (And I’m pretty sure he didnt “let” me win.) I think that chess is such a classic game, I definitely need to know how to play.

I learned how to move the pieces but I haven’t got a clue on strategy. i think that just takes practice.

I’ll consider this done when I have a chess set and know how everything in the game works. For now I know more than before but not enough to qualify myself as “knowing how to play the game”.

except me. My son has challenged the family to a chess tournament this weekend. I have a software program that I’m going to use for a crash course in the basics. :)

I accomplished this in my eighth year of school, after being forced to learn for a chess tournament. I’m pretty sure I forget, since it’s been two years.
