learn how to play chess

My husband has a chess computer game on his new laptop and tried to teach me how to play yesterday. I still hardly know what I’m doing, and would still be almost completely lost without the guides that remind me what pieces can move where… But I’m hoping to stick with it and learn from habit and practice. We’ll see how it goes.

ETA: I won my first game against the computer (on level 1, of course) shortly after writing this. I beamed with pride for about 2 hours straight.

Well, I’m not that far on it yet. My brother got me the “Dangerous book for Boys” and it has a section on chess. So, so far, I’ve learned the formation of and what the rooks, pawns, queen, king, bishop, and knight are.

I know the basics of chess. Well… actually… I have a hard time remember the movements of each piece, so I guess if I don’t know that then I don’t know much at all. But it would come with more practice I’m sure. My ex bf taught me some of the basic rules a long time ago, and we played a few games. I ended up beating him once! (And I’m pretty sure he didnt “let” me win.) I think that chess is such a classic game, I definitely need to know how to play.

One of my residents started to teach me to play. I need to meet with him more often, so I can learn more.

I learned how to move the pieces but I haven’t got a clue on strategy. i think that just takes practice.

I’ll consider this done when I have a chess set and know how everything in the game works. For now I know more than before but not enough to qualify myself as “knowing how to play the game”.

except me. My son has challenged the family to a chess tournament this weekend. I have a software program that I’m going to use for a crash course in the basics. :)

how to i play a games

I accomplished this in my eighth year of school, after being forced to learn for a chess tournament. I’m pretty sure I forget, since it’s been two years.

Okay, so with me when a board game gets a teensy bit complicated, I withdraw and give up pretty easily. But finally, whilst being in a trip to Missouri with my cousins, I finally got the idea down…

and it’s great, I seriously need to get my own chess board set soon.
