My brother Francis likes playing chess with his former HS friends/ classmates everytime he visits our home with his entire family. Unfortunately my only sister and I don’t know how to play it. And the last time I visited my family back home, I promised him that I’ll “check mate” him when we meet in my next vacation. And until now I still can’t forget that huge grin in his face that said ” big Sister, not in a million years!” So, I’ll give myself 3-4 months to learn this game. THAT would be a personal goal for me. 4 weeks ago

my boyfriend gave me my first lesson a few weeks ago. Needless to say he kicked my butt. There’s a lot of special moves to try to remember. I don’t know if I’ll ever be any good but it’s very fun in a challenging way so far. 4 months ago

but I understand more than I did thanks to my incredibly patient husband, who gave me a chess set for Christmas. :) 4 months ago

I would say, about 9 months a go I’ve started to learn. It didn’t seam to hard at first. I always thought would of being much harder. But practice is what it takes. I may be a little rusty but I try to play every now and then, even if its against the computer. Keep practicing and you too will be enjoy playing Chess more often. 6 months ago

While I’m far from being good at the game, I can officially say that I learned how to play chess from my boyfriend while in a bookstore in Paris. What a dream! 11 months ago
