but too young to remember details. Once was on the Goodyear Blimp Enterprise, the other on Stars & Stripes. I do remember some of the cockpit details, such as the wheel at the pilot’s side that reminded me of the helm of a wooden ship. I remember it being a really fun and unique experience, it’s just too bad I wasn’t journaling my life back then.
Unfortunately my father hooked me up with both rides, since he knew someone who worked for Goodyear. But if the opportunity ever falls in your lap, definitely take it (and take lots of pictures)!

My mom sells aircraft parts, and when I was in…maybe fourth grade or so, some friend of hers let us go for a ride in a Budweiser blimp all around downtown. It was loads of fun. I wish I could do it again. =D

Was able to talk a tire company into a ride – it took my about 4 years of emailing them – but they put me on the list this year and I got to do it! The real bonus is I got to bring my whole family.
Here’s some pix:

Several years ago, I sold my house to a couple and the husband was a pilot of the Goodyear Blimp. When they asked if I was leaving a bookcase for them, I jokingly said, “I will…for a ride on the blimp”. A few weeks after the closing I received a call asking me if I could get to the blimp base within a half hour…I went and not only got a chance to ride but they asked who wanted to try to fly and of course I said “yes”! It was fabulous…it flys high enough and slow enough to see everything and low enough to see everything. It only held 6 people and the only way you could get on was by invitation so I felt very lucky when other people visiting the base were asking for rides with no success.
