Clean clothes  — 5 months ago

Did 6 loads last week!! and 3 today. I figure that I need to do at least 2 loads per week to avoid laundry marathon days!!!!
I’m not completely done of course…there’s always something else to wash, curtains, comforters, etc. But I’m managing a lot better.

    Magazines  — 6 months ago

Went over some magazines and old mail that had piled up. Felt good to get that done. We’ve been trying to shred/toss/take care of all mail as soon as it gets here. Improving slowly…but improving!

FlyLady has gone flying...  — 8 months ago

    Yikes…my apartment is a disaster.
Between weekend trips, lots of shopping and life in general the two of us managed to get our apartment back to looking pretty hellish.
Well, I should tell the truth…it’s mostly me, since I spend most of my time at home. So far I cleared half of the coffee table and half a couch. When I look around there are not that many things to put away it’s just that in the mess of it all it seems like a lot. You know what I mean?
Kitchen is pretty good, bathroom is near perfect. I’ll get there again before this week is over.
Come back, FlyLady…fly back to me!!!! lmao

Finished cleaning...  — 9 months ago

yeah! Feels good to be done. Now I’m gonna sit on the couch and go over the pile of magazines and papers. I have some stuff to read, to file and lots to throw away. I’ve given up on saving whole magazines in the hopes that some day i’ll read them again. NOPE! Instead I save articles in files (home, recipes, beauty, exercise, ideas) and toss the magazine. I’m working right now on a recipe binder with recipes I’ve printed and done from the Food Network and others from magazines. The short ones I’ll write in my recipe book but I don’t want to waste time writing the long ones. Once in awhile I look over the book and toss the recipes that I still haven’t tried.
OK, I’m off to do that now.

Crazy cleaning  — 9 months ago

Today my landlord is coming over to fix some stuff…and we just came back from a long weekend away so I haven’t cleaned and things are strewn all over the apartment.
I am doing my home blessing hour PLUS as much as I can accomplish until he comes over. This is a good incentive, hehehe.

Bedroom project  — 10 months ago

I’ll use this list to help me this week. This way it won’t be as overwhelming.
    To do list for Bedroom:

Find little table and chair under clothes
    Fold clothes and put away
Open all UCLA notes/books boxes, decide what to keep and what to throw away
    Dust bedside tables and dresser
Throw away bedside magazines!!! Keep only recent mags, current book, Bible and journal in pretty basket.
    Flip mattress
    Change sheets
Put boxes in corner until we get corner desk (boxes should have ONLY what I really need for UCLA this coming Winter quarter, that desk is ONLY for school!)
    Vacuum

Nice looking apartment  — 10 months ago

Last week after throwing a party for my friend I had all of the leftover food and decorations all over my apartment.
To force me to clean up I invited a few people over for a little surprise party for a girl of our group who had a bday a week ago.
    Good idea!! but very stressful!!
The only drawback is that as I was running out of time I had to just take stuff and shove them (papers, bills, etc) in a box in the hallway. The good thing is that our apartment looks really nice and hubby and I are keeping up with it.
So often I leave dishes in the sink to wash later…that doesn’t work. By the time I go to bed…I just pass quickly by the kitchen and avoid looking at the sink. And in the morning…it’s not fun to see that mess first thing in the morning.
Well, I realize that this will be a daily thing with me, something I have to get used to doing no matter what. I hate myself when I don’t keep up with the cleaning…when I come home and I see the mess, it makes me feel automatically down and depressed.
And on the other hand, I feel amazing when I come home to my beautiful apartment. I light candles and serve myself iced tea and sit, put my feet up and enjoy being at home. It feels like a home. The other times it feels foreign and not me at all.
I cannot believe how much my surroundings affect my mood.
My next project is the hallway (of course…) and more importantly the bedroom.
I have worked on the bedroom before so it won’t be as if I were starting from nothing. Yet, it is daunting. There’s so much to do. That’s a goal for this week.

Under the sink  — 1 year ago

Last Friday I finally got the courage to tackle the cabinet under the sink. I had it full of cleaners, rags, sponges, planters, etc…! I threw away lots of bottles that I never have or will use, kept the ones I really love to use and organized it so that a basket pulls out from the cabinet with the most used items. I also doubled lined the cabinet with a plasticky thingy (don’t know what is called) I felt sooooo good after I finished that chore. I had been putting it off for a long, long time because there was so much to be done. Glad it’s over, now it will be easy to keep up.

    sink...ing  — 1 year ago

OK, NOT sinking into despair…but really! the sink is the only thing that is shiny right now! The rest, well…it’s cluttered. My husband is off for the summer and we’ve been getting some stuff for our home and rearranging stuff and it’s a mess…a mess! I am off to sleep now.
    The plan for tomorrow:
    GET UP early.
    Put away dishes.
    Clean kitchen counters and stovetop.
    Sweep and mop kitchen.
Clean bathroom and sweep and mop floor.
    Clean mirrors and door windows.
    Dust furniture in living room.
    Clear coffee table.
    Vacuum living room.

Seems like a lot right now that I’m tired, but between the two of us we can do that pretty quickly. So, i figure we’ll get up at around 6:30 or 7, have breakfast and worship and be cleaning by 8 am. I am going to sleep, I feel better now that there’s a plan. GOODNIGHT!

    tired  — 1 year ago

I folded laundry…a lot of it, right after I took it from the dryer. Now I have to put it away. That’s progress, I saw that laundry was accumulating again, so I did about 4 loads. I can’t bring myself to do a load a day. I don’t have a W/D in my apt so it isn’t convenient to do just one a day. I think 2 to 3 loads a week would suffice for just the two of us.
I was thinking that my mom would cringe if she knew what a hard time I have being consistent with my housekeeping…YIKES!
I just did my version of home blessing hour, or 1/2 hour… Looks good and it’s time for me to relax, it’s been a long week!
goodnight to all flybabies out there!!
