Not a bad beginning. 15 months ago

I had a restless night, but I think that had more to do with thinking about the week ahead of me than the hammock. Also, the hammock is kind of smelly and I felt dirty when I woke up. I should probably wash that thing since I’m not just using it for summer hijinx. It’s like having dirty sheets. So maybe it is my hammock that kept waking me up, but not the fact that it is a hammock. Just that it was dirty. :\

In any case – every other aspect was marvelous and I highly recommend this practice to other people who don’t have to share a bed and like to wake up without back and neck problems feeling like they slept on a cloud.

Finally gearing up for a test run. 15 months ago

The beams are all questionable, but I found a pair of holes drilled through the wood at two spots that seems like a good enough place to set up shop. I tied the knots around the beams through the holes and laid in it for the last half hour without hearing any creaking. I’m just a little worried because one side splintered a bit and I’m envisioning a rude awakening in the middle of the night and having to pay for some kind of expensive reconstruction of the beams in my historic apartment. (Eek.)

I hope that it’s just that the wood was already a little loose there from when they drilled – it looks that way. Of course, I can’t really know for sure. I thought I would be most worried about my knots, but some internet tutorials helped out a great deal with that. If all goes well, I can check this goal off tomorrow morning!

I’m going to have to get creative about putting this thing up since the house was apparently designed by Bob the Builder.

Sweet sleep, here I come! 18 months ago

I just ordered one from Amazon the other night and it shipped yesterday. Now I just have to go get some heavy duty hooks and install them in my walls before I am swinging my way to sleep every night. I already have a feeling this is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

This kind of conflicts with my goal to improve my posture. Hammocks are horrible for your back.

I’m not so outdoorsy – I’m thinking of a nice inside hammock, none of those trees around it to put leaves on me or to lure bugs. The perfect hammock would be within viewing distance of the television, and my cats would find it wonderful.

Love my Hennessy! 4 years ago

I have a Hennessy hammock. Its enclosed with a fly and you can’t fall out and it is easy to get in to.

I haven’t had it long, but I love to sleep in it.
