How to play the guitar by 13yangin

"It was crazy fun. And also quite easy. Once I knew the basics, the rest was like, zoom."

How I did it: How??? Well, I went to my music teacher at school and told her, "I want to play the guitar." She stared at me like I was crazy. I pressed her and she gave me this book and told me to use it wisely. I looked at the one-fingered notes. In approx. 20 min. I had the first and second string down to pat. By the end of the second day, knew all my notes. By the end of the fifth, could play songs like the devil. By the sixth, I was beginning and in the middle of chords. Simple as that.    

Lessons & tips: If you want it, go get it. Honestly? I spent like two and a half hours each day just practicing the same songs nad notes.

    maybe i want to learn to play the guitar…i own one. i like the way it looks. i never practice or sign up for lessons. hmmmm. i am not sure on this goal – it could be a ‘give up’. what would i do with this skill, how would it improve my life? the gift of music is wonderful but i usually am content to listen to the sounds of others. we’ll see.

    I’ve been practicing with the guitar (an ancient nylon-string Yamaha) for about six months. At first, I practiced at least five hours per week. Then it dropped to one or two. Now, I’m starting to wonder when it’s going to start “clicking.”

    I know that I’m better. I can play more stuff than I could. I’ve memorized a simple song, and I can start to play stuff by ear. I’m still terrible at chord changes, though.

    Just bought an Electric Guitar and amp. I’ve got some Led Zepp riffs down, would like to be able to play “Johnny B Goode” and “American Woman” before year’s end.
