that you need to attack every few months. I’ve become more aware of actually how much food we have in the house, and the abundance of stuff we’ve accumulated.
How to use what I have already purchased, whatever it may be!
How I did it: I had a good ole sort out and used up loads of dry goods and spices that were needing to be used or thrown out, I organised cosmetics, cleaning products and magazines and used up all that I could.
I saved a nearly a whole months worth of grocery shopping (handy just before Christmas!) and have much more organised cupboards now.
Lessons & tips: I think that this goal may need to be resuscitated every couple of months to ensure that I keep on top of it, although I think I am becoming a more careful consumer...

drbrass1 is building the arts in Northern New York!
We have seeds to plant, cds to listen to, even dvds to watch that we own, and lots of books to read and to look at (art, recipes, travel & exploration, etc.) with best intentions – I keep waiting for someone to tell me it’s the right time. I even plan to watch “Victory at Sea” – the old documentary with music by Richard Rodgers – but when – Soon!
Then there’s the wood in the forest to pick up, and all the herbs and cleaning products to sell or use up from our (now) closed store…
I’ve just used up a whole bunch of cleaning products and shampoos etc.
The cupboard under my sink is so much tidier now!
I’m about to recycle a whole bunch of stuff and take some bags of books and old videos to the charity shop around the corner.
I’m thinking more about what I’m buying and being a careful consumer can only be a good thing.
Well in working through my bookshelves goal I’m achieving a part of this goal too.
I’ve found a whole bunch of books to read and re-read which I will do before buying any more.
I also found some old music concert programmes that are just beautiful. My husband collected them in the eighties when he went with his father. They are brightly coloured and are so interesting to look at.
I’m going to get them framed. This will then help with my beautiful and inviting home goal.
It’s all so intermingled!!
So my spicy lentil soup made from store cupboard staples and slightly wilting veg was a triumph! I’ve frozen a batch which will be an easy supper when getting home from the gym.
I feel absurdly proud of myself!
sld1 Resting...at last.
When I open my closet I find so many things that I “needed” when I bought, coveted or am unnaturally feeling I need to possess…
.....I plan to clean out my closet…..and the pantry…..and the garage…...and the attic…..
Missa Is enjoying her maternity leave. I'm greatful for every day I have.
and gift bags for Christmas presents. I haven’t purchased any gift wrapping supplies this year. Yeah!!
We’re down to one freezer full of food instead of two now. Still got loads in the cupboards…but I’m working on it.
