I’ve been at Japanese for many years and think that it’s important to read it, not just speak it. I have been using this site www.yomuze.com to quiz myself and to run drills with the kana.
People doing this are also doing these things:

I want to learn Japenese so i can be able to communicate with more people. It was also be nice to be able to read books and so on in another launguage :)
Its simple for me…. i really like some of the mangas….but can read them only after translation done by others…...now i wanna read the raw too
I found learning Katakana a bit of a drag, so I made a little game. If you use gtalk or the chat thingy in gmail, you can try out the game by talking to jappaserver@gmail.com Just say to him ‘start’ and he will start a fun game to help you learn.
I want to be able to read Japanese simply so I can play all those awesome Japanese games that never get released over here.
Giftpia and Monster Farm DS come to mind. As do all of those non-localized Mysterious Dungeon and Summon Night games.
Well I’ve pretty much got Hiragana and Katakana down by heart, now to move onto the Kanji…and the grammar!
I probably know about 10 kanji,
I hope to pass the JLPT next year if I can find a place to take it :D
I have heard this word in the Anime and Manga all the time. I have come to find out that it means cute. I am surrounded by a lot of japanese restaurants, anime, manga, magazines and their music. But I have no idea what they are trying to say. I would love to be fluent in one of their dialects and be able to visit japan with some knowledge at least to ask where is the nearest bathroom.
I’ve been here for long enough that I’m really sick of being illiterate. It’s time to just start digging into memorizing the kanji through reading elementary school books and writing these puppies over and over until I can remember.
