dragonfly35 good things come to those who wait, they really, really do!
I love the oil cleansing method I’ve been trying! I’m using a hot washcloth to steam my face after applying the oil, and it seems to be getting rid of my blackheads. Too soon to tell yet if my forehead will clear up. I was getting a (hormonally triggered) breakout there when I started the OCM, and it certainly isn’t any worse than it would have been. If anything, it’s clearing up faster.
Could it really be this easy?

of playing with oil cleansing. I think it’s really helping my dry skin. My skin already looks smoother, softer, more supple. Less lined. But I’m not sure about the oiliness yet… I understand this can take some time to sort itself out. I can still play more with types of oil and what else I do with my skin besides this too. For now, I’m getting a few spots on my face but that’s to be expected given hormonal concerns right now. Certainly my skin doesn’t seem to be any worse for this treatment.

I’ve already upped my water intake. I think that was one of the first goals I achieved on 43T! For now, I’ll play with oil cleansing and see what happens.

I never really had problem skin as a teenager. Then for almost all of my 20s I was on birth control pills. I always thought I had naturally great skin but I think it was just that the Pill worked really well for me in this way. If anything, my skin was a bit dry but easily managed by moisturizer and daily sunblock.
Almost a year ago, at the age of 30, I went off the Pill. A couple of months later, I started to have a lot of breakouts. Things have settled down a little but not as much as I’d like. I’m now scared to use moisturizer or sunblock on my face, because no matter what kind I use, my face seems to break out something awful afterwards. So I have both zits and dry skin, and the skin on my forehead is suddenly looking a lot older.
I’ve tried a few products but haven’t liked any of them, and I definitely don’t want medication thought I have considered going back on the Pill (see my b.c. goal). I was on it for nearly 10 years straight, thought, and there are a lot of things I really love about being off. I’m most interested in finding out how I can clear up my skin naturally. I’m interested in researching dietary approaches. I’ve also been hearing a bit about using oil on your skin (oil cleansing); it’s actually supposed to combat oily skin and doesn’t dry your skin like a lot of acne products. And I read something about using a basil infusion when you’re getting a breakout.
Also would love to get a facial soon. :)

I’m one of those people whose skin just does NOT respond to most acne medications. My derm even said so. I just ordered Aqua Glycolic after my dermatoligist recommended it and I am crossing my fingers that it helps my skin look more healthy instead of blotchy and depressing. If anyone has used Aqua Glycolic let me know about your results!

I had two facials done this week. One on Wednesday and the other today.. They both involved extractions of acne, some lovely enzyme cocoa mask that smelled like Cocoa Puffs, and massage. Both involved a bit of pain but it was totally worth it. I love how nice my skin looks right now. It’s radiant, looks very healthy and so much better. :)

They are two top goals on my 43things list. It’s good to tackle the skin thing from the outside and the inside alike. So, I’m starting to take my vitamins each morning. This week, I’ve begun taking Flaxseed Oil as well. It’s just cold pressed and I take 1 tablespoon each day.
It’s only day 3 of consistent vitamin and flaxseed oil consumption, but I will say, my face is already starting to improve. My acne breakout from last week (I think mostly due to stress), is going away nicely. Another huge thing I noticed yesterday was that my face was not nearly as oily at the end of my work day as usual.
At some point I had stopped to powder my face (as I normally do), but my face didn’t look that shiney. Even by 4:30pm I was noticing a significant difference. The oilyness and over all “yuck” wasn’t nearly as bad.
I had e-mailed a friend about this and she mentioned that she also takes Evening Primrose Oil as well. I saw a bottle of flaxseed & primrose oil combined at the store. As soon as I finish my flaxseed oil bottle, I’m going to get that. Both oils are great for promoting balanced hormones in women, and promote decrease in inflamation and improvement in skin.
I’m really encouraged about this. Eventually I do want to go to a professional skin spa to have some facial treatments done, but I didn’t want to do that until I made some foundational changes to my overall health.
I’ll post another progress report after about 2 weeks of regular vitamin and flaxseed oil consumption.

Between the mineral make-up from Alima, and the new face wash system from MyChelle, I’d say my face is already looking a lot better than it was about 4 days ago.
My skin looks a lot smoother, less oily and just over all balanced.
The vitamins are going down the hatch regularly, and my next big mission is to buy flax seed oil and take that every day…... i think I need to commit my flax seed oil taking for a goal actually..
