I’ve finally been able to make a start on this goal. B and I have bought a house in Tasmania. It’s a hundred year old cottage on 2.6 acres, with a resident ram. There’s a chicken coop in the paddock and plenty of room grow our own veggies.
It’s all happened very quickly. We actually made the decision to purchase, made an offer and signed contracts within a 48 hour period. We’ll be there within the month.
And the best part – we’re a 5 minute walk from nonna! :)

I grew up in Chicago, in a 3rd floor apartment. Now in my mid-30’s with 3 young children (and living in a suburb of sunny Boulder, CO), I find myself immersed in the local food movement. Our family has been vegetarian for 10 years…so kindness to animals is a no-brainer. I’d love to live somewhere that I can keep some chickens and a goat and any other ‘livestock’ that I choose. Seeking out farm fresh eggs and raw goat milk is easy here in Boulder, but how fun to do it myself. Someday… (The pic is our turkey, Feather, that we did NOT eat this Thanksgiving.)

This goal may be a way off but I’ve already started doing my research – on the goats part that is. I’ve decided I want two La Mancha’s, preferably ones that look like the above… :-)
