Alwynko wants a life
yep still think some time it could be a good idea
i’ve been twice, both times pretty much a terrifying disaster, and i promised my boyfriend if he took lessons (although he’s already a pretty good skater) i’d learn too. maybe i’ll secretly take them and suprise him…
I have to say, it is probably my biggest casual phobia. I went to the ice station today and noticed I’ve improved a bit. I didn’t latch on to the wall the whole time and got a bit of movement. I don’t know why it’s so difficult for me. Then again, I can’t do any sort of skating, as far as I know: not roller blading, not skateboarding, and I dare not try surfing. Anyway, I’m hoping that I’ll overcome whatever is preventing me from doing so.
Ms C skated across the rink
Finally started lessons [I’m 39] after dreaming of skating for years. Spent the entire first lesson clinging to the barrier watching everyone else skate across the rink. Nearly turned back 5 times today before 2nd lesson but went anyway and [sort of] glided across the rink, with the others, without falling! I could hardly believe it! Needless to say I’m over the moon and will go to the remaining 6 lessons.
Passed SkateUK Level 7 last Saturday, so next to tackle is Level 8, my class restarting on 3rd May.
I passed the Adult 1 skating class, and I even got my very own patch. (Pic coming soon!) I’m not yet skilled enough to do crossovers properly, but the rest of my skating goals have been achieved. No more classes for me for a while, but I’ll be on the ice frequently with my son. Great bonding time; Now that he can skate fast enough for me to not leave him in the dust, we can chat about whatever as we skate around the rink.
*HolesInMySocks* needs to become more concious of completing goals
I might take up skating lessons in the Summer, when less people are likely to be taking up the rink. I want to go again! :-)
I love the grace and beauty ice skaters exhibit as they glide across the ice, doing impossible tricks. I have ice skated a few times in my life…the first time at an ice rink in Germany…but was always scared and touched the sides with trembling fingers until it was almost time to go, then I would let go and make a few amazing laps around the ring, declaring Victory. I want to really learn the art though and be comfortable and good at it.
