i was going to send you a picture of Knut, who shares your birthday (he’s 5 months old today—and i should know, having just spent the afternoon with The World’s Leading Knut Fan), but then this chap caught my eye. i think there’s a secret and very profound message in there somewhere; maybe it’s just that lettuce is good for your hair…

anyway, i hope you have been enjoying a lovely day—raised a glass to you at the lakeside, and am keeping all paws crossed that your year will turn out to be an exceedingly good one in many respects, if not all.

I am always amazed reading your FTF posts by how many people you take care of – all those kids, and your mum and brother, not to mention husband and everyone else around you! I find it a big inspiration and I hope on your birthday that everyone will return the support and strength to you in similar measure!!

I think that it’s so cool that Ish has scheduled to donate blood on her birthday. I definitely think that’s a great way to start off her birthday, by giving of herself to others. Here’s my birthday wishes for her for the coming year:

May she continue to exercise regularly and eat right, because with time she’ll be able to do those 20 crunches and push-ups without having to stop. May her family continue to be a positive presence in her life and her in theirs, particularly with her brother H as he moves into his new apartment and with her Mom as she deals with life post-stroke. And may she find the time to allow her creativity to flourish, whether it be completing quilts for her kids (and C-Man’s), or taking piano lessons.

You are an amazing person and I wish you an amazing year with many more to follow. Have some peace and quiet in your life, some relaxation and some minutes in which you are the queen of the world – as you absolutely deserve to be so !!!
