I am really god at buying cloth bags.. just not using them:( I suck 2 years ago
How I did it: I bought the bags while shopping one day, and I found that they were much sturdier than the plastic bags. I thought they were much easier to carry into the house. I put them right back into the car after shopping (except for two of them that needed washed). I bought a couple more at the other grocery store that I shop at and now have bags from both store and a plain cavas bag that will handle any grocery shopping purchases I make. I had to go back out to the car twice to get the bags, but I didn't mind doing that as I hate those flimsy plastic bags. Read how I did it… 2 years ago
I thought it would take me a lot longer to remember my reusable bags, but I have gotten into the habit of using them much quicker than I had originally thought. I don’t like the plastic grocery bags; so I think that helped me remember to use the reusables. 2 years ago
I am pretty pleased that I am remembering my bags. I had to go back out to the car when I got to Woodmans. That was the first stop on the grocery shopping tour. I remembered them right away at the other two stops. I need to get a couple more as I don’t know if it is proper to use another stores pre-printed bags at a different store. I still am looking for a large canvas bag I had somewhere around here. I think I got that at IKEA. I liked that bag because it was so big and sturdy. I am having fun challenging myself to remember to use the reusable bags. 2 years ago
I primarily shop at Wal Mart or Woodmans for my groceries. I have bags at both stores and have them in the back of the van. I will try and put them right back in the van after we come home from the grocery store or after they are washed if need be. I think they are a lot easier to carry in than the conventional plastic bags. 2 years ago
the 1st time we went grocery shopping to use my bags at Wal Mart. I think it is a little extra work for the checker, but she did not seem to mind. I have to look around for my big cloth bag. I like to take the single big bag when I am not getting to much. I liked not having a lot of plastic sacks around after putting up the grocery purchases. 2 years ago
I have washed all of my reusable bags and put them in the van. I told Brooklynn, my granddaughter, that is was her job to help grandma remember her reusable bags when we go to the store. I hate those plastic bags. Everywhere I go, I see plastic bags hanging in the trees, blowing across the roads, or stuck in bushes. They never really hold any boxed ingredients well. I find the plastic bags splitting open before I even get them loaded into the van. I am determined to learn to use the reusable bags all of the time. 2 years ago
I bought alot of them I think I have nearly 20…they were on sale at the time so I stocked up. Use them for library trips, sleepovers and of course grocery trips…if I don’t I would have to pay for the crappy plastic ones anyway…
I have given bags to people who dont have one at the checkout sometimes it is plastic ones if I have them in the bottom from before or sometimes just the reuse ones, or if run out I use boxes that I recycle. 3 years ago
I’ll do it tomorrow…but I think this is an important goal for me… CLEARLY3 years ago
getting better at this! Need to make it an everyday thing though! and remember that if I go to OTHER store other than the grocery store.. I still need to grab the bags!
don’t know where the last two entries on this went…:( 3 years ago

I am in love with cloth bags.
I get them everywhere. Target, Meijer, Horrock’s…
If 43things made a reuseable bag, I’d probably buy it.
These are always in one of our car’s, ready to take on whatever monstrosity we plan on purchasing, or transporting not ripping like plastic and looking snazzier than paper. 3 years ago
gonna get them cleaned up and see if I can get back on track:) 4 years ago
I purchased over 10 bags for this goal and now I don’t even know where they are! I don’t know what keeps me from accomplishing this goal.. maybe because we are always switching vehicles.. maybe it is cause I shop soooo much and 10 bags a day really isn’t enough..maybe it is because when I go to the store I use the self check out lane and the bages weight throw off the scales and set the alarm ringing for the teller to come help me. I don’t know – I just have to find the bags now and see if I can try to get it together. 4 years ago
How I did it: I kept colorful bags in the back of my car at all times and kept a smaller foldable bag in my handbag so if I forgot the car bags, I'd always have at least one with me. Read how I did it… 4 years ago
I can’t seem to remember to bring my bags! It is funny… I do so much for the environment, even the really icky stuff like having a sawdust toilet lol but something so simple like remebering to bring 10 beautiful black cloth bags.. I am hopeless! :) I need to find a way to remember this little detail so I can get this goal completed and do my part;) 4 years ago
This past summer and this fall I’ve used my own bags! I even bought a new red bag that can roll up and hook onto any handbag so I never have to be without my own bag!
So one or two months more and I can cross this off my list :) 4 years ago
How I did it: I kept recyclable bags in my car. If I did forget them I often refused bags and struggled to carry everything as a symbol to myself.
If I did a big shop and forgot them I didn't beat myself up but I made sure that I donated those bags to the op shop to be reused. Read how I did it… 4 years ago
Be careful when you go to WM and ask to use your canvas bags, if they have already put something into a plastic bag they will just THROW THE BAG AWAY! I laugh every time… and then tell them to get it out of the trash.
Seriously? 4 years ago
I am pretty good now of using my recyclable bags. Yay Go Me 4 years ago
Although I do reuse my plastic bags as liners for my waste baskets and for particularly stinky diapers, but I know how important it is to cut down on the amount of bags being used. 4 years ago
Went to the store this Friday to buy frozen pizzas, chips and drinks for my Daughters sleep over. Only thing was, I forgot my bags. No problem! We had 4 sets of hands at the store, so I nicely declined bagging them up and we all walked out of there, each carrying something. (: 5 years ago
and we have a lot of cute/functional bags now.
i am going to count this as ‘done’ :) 5 years ago
and no bag. Also I don’t get bags when I hire videos or go to any department stores. (not that I have a long time) 5 years ago
he was like “what is this? the save-a-plastic-bag foundation?” haha. i guess that’s what i get for living in a suburban community outside of houston. people don’t care about recycling or the environment or anything.
i’m doing my small part. i think that counts :) 5 years ago
and I remembered then too. I can keep this up. Much easier than carrying everything out piled up in my arms lol 5 years ago
starting to remember to bring the cloth bags with me when I go. Still not all the time but more than before. I think they might outlaw plastic bags in my town, so that would sure make things easier! 5 years ago
i remembered to bring my bags! we had too many groceries, so i ended up taking a few plastic ones home. But that’s okay because i reuse them for trash or lunch bags. 5 years ago
I am babysitting for two weeks. So yesterday we went and did a big grocery shop. I remembered to take all of my reusable bags. Yay!!! That is about 10 bags less in the environment. 5 years ago
they are on the counter next to my purse…. maybe today will be the day! 5 years ago
