I don’t necessarily eat crappy food. I avoid chocolate and ice cream and pizza. I never eat doughnuts, I keep the cookie eating to a minimum (except if I’ve made them myself and earned them, of course. :)). I just eat too much of fairly healthy things. For example, my turkey sandwiches are fine, except they’re too big. Huge. I eat Wheat Thins as my favorite snack. But I eat half a box of them. I eat dinner and then eat just one more thing from the cabinet, for no particular reason. I just do. I snack at work out of habit, even though I’m not hungry.
The goal is this: to eat more slowly so as to eat less, to ask myself, “am I really hungry?” before I pick up something to eat, and to control the portions. I don’t intend to make myself eat tofu all the time. (I’m trying to become a foodie!) Just to be sensible about whatever I am eating.
