I took a baseline count on Tuesday, which was another sunny day. There were 5 bikes in the school rack, out of 552 enrolled students.

Today, on Bicycle to School Day, 37 kids rode their bicycles to school. I handed out all my clif bars, all of my reflective cuff bands, and all but 4 of my water bottles.

I’d love to go over 10% of the student body one day – there’s always next year. 6 years ago

1. I have PTA sponsorship
2. I have the cooperation of teachers who bicycle
3. I have the morning off from work

In progress:
1. Postering the school – I have the posters now, just haven’t put them up yet
2. Bicycle route maps from familiar points to the school

Week of the event:
1. Pick up materials for the day at Cascade Bicycle Club

Day of of the event:
1. Set up table and banner at school
2. Hand out goodies to the kids
3. Clean up table
