It’s not what’s stated as the goal but today I took receipt of a new digital photo camera. I have been going to a lot of football games and have been snapping pics with my old compact. This is largely a waste of time so I have bought this second hand pro camera with a long lens and a mate of mine is going to get me a press pass for the matches. Today I took steps. i went into Filmbase and asked advice about buying a digital camcorder. They weren’t able to offer me a whole lot of advice and the camera i was shown as an example was valued at 3,800 euro!! But Jen was very nice and as helpful as she could be, I think. She threw somw technical stuff at me that flew over my head like a home run headed for the upper tier. As Kevin Costner might have said; “Anything going that fast should have a stewardess on it, dontcha think?”
I also bought a camcorder magazine that was quite helpful and a book on digital film-making by Mike Figgis. i’ll get there soon. 5 years ago

I am racking up ideas for little movies that i can make on my spanking new digital video camera. I have about six or seven pretty fine ideas spinning around in my head. Unfortunately i have taken no steps at all in the actual buying of a camera. It seems that life throws up just enough irritating little jobs to fill what ever spare time you might have.
Today, for instance i had to make an emergency bank dash to avoid the financial institutions of Ireland arriving en-masse on my doorstep, waving litigeous bits of paper in my face or challenging me to a duel or something. Then I had to take advantage of the rare bit of sunshine and cement the broken concrete on my front path.
When, oh when, will art get a look in? I will take steps tomorrow. I swear. 5 years ago

..Filmbase, an organisation that provides a film-making infrastructure in Dublin. They have a great facility in Temple Bar that i havent taken advantage of in the way that someone who aspires to make a movie should. my first task will be to ask their advice on buying a cheap camera. I wonder if they will be helpful or just refer me to Dixons? 5 years ago

I need one and I want one. It would also be helpful in my goal to “make a movie”. Aaand, I could video my new garden that i’m building and upload it to shady internet garden sites. I also have a strange urge to shoot scenes from shakespeare plays in my house. And i want to make a spoof documentary about people who believe that they were famous people in previous lives.
