Miss Rumphius

When my daughter was about 5 years-old, my mother bought her a book, Miss Rumphius. In the book, Miss Rumphius’ grandfather told her that she needed to do several things in life, she needed to travel to far off places, ..., and make the world a more beautiful place. Miss Rumphius does this when she is old, after having traveled the world, by spreading Lupine seed along the roads and paths of her village. Everyone thought that she was crazy until the flowers bloomed. Then, they called her the Lupine Lady.
I’ve traveled to far off places. I’ve given birth to lovely children. I’ve made heart-melded friends. I’d like to be remembered for doing something to make the world a more beautiful place. I’ve just not found out what that is, yet.
