vacation on a houseboat

I’ve been on a lot of trips and vacations but the short time we spent on a rented houseboat was probably the most relaxed I’ve ever been.

While the process of renting and readying for a houseboat trip is a bit hectic, once you’re on the river (we rented on the big muddy) it’s so relaxing it’s incredible.

I recall getting in the car after we returned and driving thru town, and marveling at how loud everything seemed.

Nights on the river (we stayed on sand-bars) are surreal. Seeing a big barge come down river with the low rumble of the diesels is incredible. The search-light pierces the night and the pilot seems to catch all that is happening on the rive. Careful he doesn’t catch you doing something that might get you arrested elsewhere!

I highly recommend, in fact, we’re looking to buy our own houseboat in the next few years. 2 years ago

I toured the inland waterways of California by houseboat…interesting way to see the state. Now I’m looking forward to touring Europe by houseboat. 4 years ago
