How I avoided sunlight my entire life in south florida… no idea. But being in Tallahassee now it’s even worse. Went to the springs today and I realized that I would have a farmer’s tan if it weren’t for the fact that even the parts of my body that are always exposed are also ridiculously pale. Pussy rains from the sky in a college town, yet I don’t partake in it. If I wasn’t such a skinny white boy I wouldn’t be able to avoid getting laid. Easily rectifiable but I’m too lazy. No more!

Call Me Casper...  — 4 months ago

If I stood in front of a white wall you probably wouldn’t see me except for the curiously odd sensation of noticing floating eyeglasses…

I’ve heard that people in southern states have a lower incident of cancer due to the sun – vitamin D. Right now, if I walked into a hospital they’d probably try to give me a blood transfusion. Dracula would want to give ME some blood….

Frankly, I could walk around naked in the snow and few would raise an eyebrow – no, not because of that – because I’d blend in so well.

I intend to get some kind of tan – now that I’ve moved to Florida – before the sun can fry eggs on the sidewalks. (Come to think of it I’d better hurry!)

I just found out that I am severely deficient in Vitamin D. I’ve always thought I was doing the right thing by staying out of the sun to try and avoid skin cancer (which is very prevalent in Australia)... and the fact that I burn quite easily doesn’t help either…

Now the doc tells me I have to spend at least 15 minutes a day in the sunshine (as well as taking tablets) to get my Vitamin D levels back up, otherwise I risk osteoporosis later in life. I’ve always eaten plenty of dairy foods to get lots of calcium in my system to avoid osteoporosis, but apparently the calcium can’t do any good without the vitamin D, so I suppose that is another thing I have gotten completely wrong! Aargh…

Perhaps I am defeating the point.  — 2 years ago

I’ve been spending more time outside so far this summer than I have the last few years. Lots and lots of time. The only problem with the getting more sun part is that I tend to go out when it’s cloudy, raining or dark. When the sun and I are both out together I hide in the shade and wear lots of long clothes. It might turn out that by the end of the summer I’ll still be ghostly white but my face and forearms will be covered in freckles. Won’t that be splendid?

    Worth doing!

Bordering on winter white—and now it’s springtime. The rain is not helping my cause. I have a new white dress that I refuse to wear until I get some color! I’m not saying I need a week in Aruba type of sun (though that would be nice). I just need some vitamin D and a healthy glow already.

What was I thinking?  — 2 years ago

Why did I have this as a goal? Don’t I have more important things to do? Plus it is the middle of winter in Nebraska, this ain’t gonna happen.

When I’m in the sun long enough, my mood is improved and I sleep better later. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough time to get enough sun. There’s work and college classes (both full time) adn homework. And working at night kind of puts a crimp on my plans for sunny happiness. When the sun is high, it’s my time to sleep but it won’t always have to be that way.

Summer fun  — 3 years ago

We bought a house with a pool 4 years ago but you would never guess because every Summer I have looked just as pale as I do in the Winter. I have missed-out on time in the pool due to working all day and/or illnesses.
Well this year things have changed. I’m working a lot less and have been blessed with improved health. So my plan is to enjoy my pool as much as possible and gain a nice tan as well.

I already have a good start with a nice bronze glow so far.
