go to SXSW

2wks to go!

i have my plane ticket and a place to stay, no actual wristband, but im meeting a friend there who is working and says he can get me in, at least when he has finished working in the evenings

regardless, im going to have a fun time, and just go with the flow

I’m going to have to purchase air fair, get tickets to the conference and find a place to sleep. I best get on it!

so ive booked my flight to the US

but its just to the East Coast where i am visiting some friends, but it coincides with SxSW week.

hopefully this month i will buy my internal flight to Austin. I have already arranged to meet up with another friend there to go see some bands.

I thought about going for my eighteenth birthday, which is March next year. But odds are I’d have to miss finals, which I don’t want to do my first year of college. Plus, I’m assuming most venues are 21+, I may have to spend my life savings to get to enough of the shows I want, and from what I hear the atmosphere is not really going to be my thing.

Depending on where I am maybe I’ll go back to Monolith or try Bumbershoot.

Actually, I’m not really a big festival person, so I don’t even know what I’m doing.

Well this is the only reason I would ever venture to Texas….

so I can make room for more pressing goals. And I’ve got so many other places I want to visit first, that SXSW will have to wait for awhile.

we went this year (2007) and we just went down to 6th street and hung out there the whole time Austin is amazing+live music+tonz of people…it was amazingly fun! we were with one of our guy friends and we found this guy, same green hoodie, both wearing the hoody part even thought it was hot, same hair, and smoking the same cigarette as our frind it was so wierd they were like twins…doplegangers..it was krazy! but ya sxsw is deffinately worth going to…

Finally went to SXSW this year… I didn’t buy a badge or even a wristband, but I still had a great time. 2 full days of free food, open bar, and good music. Saw lots of friends, made new ones.

Just check for magazines & etc. that have free parties, and RSVP online. That and word of mouth are the best ways to find cool stuff to do for cheap, if you are super poor, like myself.
