Piano, keyboard, guitar and now drums! This website REALLY is getting me inspired!
PEScott1985 is wondering how he's gonna get all these things done!
How I did it: I just hooked up with an old high school teacher of mine who let me hang around his classroom and learn the drums as long as I did some filing every now and again for him. He taught me some things and I learned a lot. I can now drum basic rock beats, jazz beats, blues beats and country beats. I am going to keep going with this so I can be a better drummer. How I did it: basically my friends started a band and decided they need a drummer...since i was around that day they choose me... know i am not musical but i gradually thaught myself first simple then more complicated rifts... of course after about 4 months are 'band' broke up but i decided to get better... its a great way to let out your anger Read how I did it…

How I did it: Haha, much like the other guy here... I played clarinet in my school band in 6th grade because the only instrument I knew how to play was piano. You can't play piano in band. Eventually, I decided to start taking lessons from Mike Conrad, possibly the greatest music teacher EVER.I sucked at first. No surprise. But after about a year, I started listening to a band called Dead Poetic. They were what people would call, "Screamo." I also star… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I started learning through school and found out that that wasn't as good as I had hoped, I got a drumkit one christmas and just kept practising. All you need is rhythm and time. The 4 way co-ordination (the way that each one of your limbs is doing something different from the others) comes with time. Just relax and stop thinking and it'll become easy : ) Read how I did it…
How I did it: I have been a musician since I was seven, and I won't pretend that wasn't extremely helpful. I don't know how long it would take a non-musician to learn. But I decided in July that I would take a year and learn the drums. I started out by having my brother give me informal lessons about once a week. I'd play along with my favorite CD and also try to come up with beats on my own. I'm still learning new stuff, … Read how I did it…

Okay tara reid is a MESS now, (still love her) but how fricken hott was it when she rocked those drums? Don’t even know if it was real don’t think I care. Hahaha can’t wait to learn

Well I am doing what I can for now… I am practising playing drums on my playstation 3… guitar hero world tour… I guess it can help with basic co-ordination training, but I do realise that it is not the same as the real thing… it’s the best I can do for now.
I really want to learn to play the drums. Question is…will I commit? Will I put in 1000% of effort, so much effort that the drumsticks will become a permanent extension to my hands?
Well, I hope so.
I have failed horribly at playing any other instrument…maybe drums would be different?!

I bought my first drum this morning! (thanks to bday money)
Its African style, somewhat small, can be held between the legs or under the arms, and has a higher, sharper sound. Almost best of all is its skin pattern, which is a colorful Egyptian print with pharaoh-like figures and symbols. Very pretty.
I also fell in love with a djembe; that is the type of drum Ive wanted since I discovered the drum circles – thats what most people use – and Ive found a great one. Pretty big, its brown with red, green, and black colors all over, and has a nice deep sound. The store let me put it on layaway for a month, so I might be able to afford it by then.
I was almost literally drooling over their regular drum sets – they have gold, sparkling blue, purple, white…just absolutely beautiful sets! Thats for a looooooooooong time in the future though, if ever.
Looking forward to start learning how to play!!! and now I dont have to worry about not getting a drum at the drum jams!
I had my drumming debut in public on Sunday March 29th at the Newman Center 7pm mass. It was so much fun!
It started with registering my two sons into drum classes at the Seattle Drum School. It turned out that the youngest wasn’t really ready for it, but I had paid for the entire month, so I said, I’d sit in his place—and I love it and I’m going to continue!
