Learn to play the drums

My whole life I wanted to learn to play the drums. Why, I don’t know. It’s just this thing that has been in the back of my mind that I never took the initiative to actually learn. Now as I get older, it’s something I want to actually pursue, but just can’t seem to find the time to take a lesson. Not to mention that if I did, I don’t think my neighbors in my building would appreciate it. What to do?

I am still practising at home, and I love the drums :o)

However, I know over the next few weeks/months Im just going to have to prioritise other things above this goal, so I am parking it for a while.

Im marking it as done, as I have learnt a fair amount, and I can bang out a rhythm now, or read the music to carry on teaching myself – but obviously Im going to come back to this so that I can learn to play them like a pro! lol…

So yes, watch this space because this will be reinstated as a goal at some point in the not too distant future…

I think this one might be a tad OTT, but I play bass mostly, can also play guitar and keyboard, and would like to learn to play the drums as well. I think I basically just want to be an entire band on my own. I would ideally like to be able to play all parts to all Dream Theater songs, but that might be a while off… Can do most of the basslines now though! :P

Have now officially learnt 3 songs:

Nickleback – How you remind me (easy and boring :S)
Nirvana – Smells like Teen Spirit (Quite easy but fun to play :D)
Led Zeppelin – Communication Breakdown (Quite Easy)

I shall declare this done but obviously I am going to keep on playing :D.
And I only just got a ride cymbol :S.

This would be a great goal… but I’m gravitating more towards guitar now, so am going to focus on that.

Well I go to this Catholic high School around my house but not in cleveland sadly. People are kinda snobby there, anyway Well my band teacher is letting me come in and practice the drums. So far I have a basic song down but kinda sucks cuz she wants me to play bells as well so I am hoping to get alot of basic things down and be able to play really good music that actullay sounds like the music I am playing lol

The game Rock Band is helpful for learning. It teaches you real drumming, and you get to play awesome songs too. Not the cheapest game in the world, but still worth it.
