I had lots of cheap paperback novels from thrift stores so I released some of those. Very few books have been logged thus far, although one book traveled all the way to Canada from a bus stop near home. I have mixed feelings about whether Bookcrossing is worth the time. I think Where’s George is a much better idea.

percent of my books get journalled. I have literally left them all over various cities. Some people are suspicious, some think it is some kind of a trick. Others are amused and totally get it. I do it for fun.

But, didn’t find it worth of a goal. No one ever finds my books and logs them.

So I got off my duff and decluttered my bookshelf. Then I logged onto BookCrossing.com and figured out how to release books to the wild. I set about eight of them free today. Still too early to know whether anyone will find them or register them if they do, but it was much more fun than simply donating a box to the local charity.

Got the kids involved, too. That surprised me – not only were they interested, but they helped come up with locations, helped write them down, and helped place the books! We had fun.

And no one has found them. I thought that this would be a little more interesting and am now unmotivated. I have a bunch more books to bookcross and will give if one more shot. Any suggestions?

I’ve bookcrossed two books, neither have been caught, and I haven’t seen any to pick up. Kinda distressing. Would like to have more activity here. Have two more to cross, lets see how those go.

I picked up three VC Andrews books from the 2nd hand shop across the street on Thursday to get them going on bookcrossing. I tried registering them yesterday to release them, but the site was acting wacky and wouldn’t let me do that. I was headed to Wisconsin Rapids (about 30 miles away) to do some other stuff and was excited to drop them off, but I couldn’t do it without a registration number. So now I will have to register them and get them out into the wild.

Very unmotivating, I am going to a bigger area today, Wisconsin Dells, and I will drop one somewhere there to see if it gets picked up. Wish me luck.

It sure was interesting. I walked into the laundromat and there was one woman there folding her laundry in the back. She looked up at me and back at what she was doing and I set the book on the table and walked out. I sure hope that someone finds and bookcrosses this book. Wish me luck.

Talked with a co-worker about this and got some suggestions on where to release the book and she thought it was a cool idea and wondered about talking to the school to try and get this going for younger kids – like a treasure hunt… Very cool – maybe it won’t take much to get the community involved…
