best movie EVER
if you dont think so, youre a square
How I did it: went to the movies with a few friends that wanted to see it. I then needed to stop and put myself in zach braff's shoes. It helped imagining it was my cute friend.
Lessons & tips: Imagine writing a movie during your quarter life crisis and being able to use your own soundtrack...it'd probably come out this way, too.
Resources: Sappy friends and a love of Iron and Wine

For anyone listing this as a goal, I recommend you make your own movie instead.
I watched this movie twice today, the second time with the crew commentary on.
It turns out there’s a conscious use of color to represent Large’s transition from his empty old life, dominated by his past and by his father’s decision to put him on lithium and send him away, to his new life with Sam. The old life is represented by cold colors, namely white, pale blue, and beige, while the new life is full of bright colors, orange in particular.
Sam’s clothes are often the only bright patch in a dim scene, and sometimes she’s overshadowed by the bleak colors. See for example the blue slow-motion scene when Large, Sam, and Peter walk into the hotel lobby with the helium tank.
Yes, this movie bears repeated viewing.
I got the DVD, and I’m watching it with the Zach and Natalie commentary turned on.
He really should be talking about the movie, but he’s really just gushing all over her. He’s such a fanboy.
I kept seeing pieces of this on cable and promising myself I’d see it all the way through. I even got the DVD (widescreen edition) before I’d seen the movie, which is something I had never done before.
This is a neat little movie; I recommend watching the deleted scenes, since they add some depth to several of the characters, especially to Large’s mother and father.
I like the movie and I’d watch it again. It isn’t a perfect story (honestly, there’s not much of a story, just a bunch of scenes that move some action), but it manages to convey a feeling of alienation I found familiar, and I almost never identify with movie characters.
I may come back and add some spoilers; maybe not.
