I had fun! Saw the musical Lion King with MY Lion KIng in London on my birthday and it was definitely a night to remember. Ahhh, Haagen Dazs… ;)
We took our 11 year old daughter and a friend. I have seen a fair number of West End shows over the years, and they are always impressive, but for me this was just head and shoulders above the rest.
I cannot begin to comprehend how the creative folk thought of the initial concept, had the audacity to attempt to carry it off, and had the skill to succeed!
The stage mechanics, and the way that they are not “hidden” from the audience, is both breathtaking and astonishing.
We had assumed that it might be a bit too scary for our 6 year old, but after the first visit decided she would love it – the stage version is faithful to the storyline, which she knew well having worn out her Disney tape through use!, so it held no scary surprises for her. So we took her and the grand parents a few weeks later!
If you’ve got small kids get an aisle seat for them on the outside of either aisle in the stalls – that way they will have a clear view of the stage diagonally down the aisle – and also experience the animals coming down the aisles.
