Went horse riding over the weekend. Loved it! I always enjoy it. Been three times this year but want to go more often. I think horseriding is my new hobby!
How to get a new hobby
How I did it: Okay, really randomly I decided I wanted to learn how to knit. So I asked my friend to teach me, which she did, and I've been doing it all the time ever since.
People doing this are also doing these things:
Entries
Photography | writing | movies | friends | going to a dance class | cooking | going to art galleries | photo exhibitions | um that is a starter……
ok – my plan is to do my ‘sunday scribblings’ tonight – so that is writing taken care of.
Going to a dance class – I really want to do the SDC dance class on Saturday, so unless I have to house hunt, I’m doing this!
Photography – need to up the ante on my photo challenge (43 doors) so I will do at least one today and a few more this week.
as a dear friend told me, i work too damn much. and i don’t have any real hobbies. So I’m gonna try to do some more ‘things’ – other than work. and be hungover. Cause lets’ face it, these things really aren’t working for me anymore.

Next step: Schedule time each week to DO this.
I signed up for a hand quilting class and am in love with the whole creative process now. I will probably start machine quilting in December – I want to wait for my birthday before I buy a sewing machine. I’m really excited to have a hobby where I’m making something tangible as a finished product,
Going to school. Yes I went back to school about a year and a half ago. I went back out of necessity. I have come to love it and will probably be a lifer. There are so many degrees I want to earn. I love the whole process of school, picking my classes, applying for financial aid, getting my books, taking the classes. I’ve found I don’t know what to do with myself when I’m on break. I guess I’ve gotten used to the hectic pace of work and school. I know it’s so geeky.
Knitting... tried it; apparently not gonna happen.
Crocheting... more knots. Perhaps not the best idea.
Gardening... I sort of tried this last year, but the yard is small and the dog poops are widespread.
Quilting... this intrigues me, just because it’s something my grandmother and her 9 sisters did together. They made beautiful stuff.
Lion taming... so hard to find good lions these days.
