Sarah is torn as to whether to jump on the Twilight bandwagon or not?
What I filled my time with otherwise.
04/07/09
- Had a driving lesson
- Tuned my acoustic guitar
- Printed out chord diagrams
- Ordered some picks from eBay
- Decluttered magazine box and threw an awful lot into the recycling bag
- Printed out how to play all kinds of poker. Now I just need to put it into practice…
05/07/09
- Deleted hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of files off my computer

I watch it because I have nothing else to do, or I just can’t be bothered to break the habit. I’m dead set on letting go of ‘celebrity culture’ so there’s no need for me to be an avid viewer of The Hills and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Also, we have hundreds of channels that we as a family never watch. I want more time to persue my ambitions instead of wasting time in front of a screen. I decided on ‘stop’ instead of ‘watch less’ because as much as I enjoy Family Guy, I’ll pull through without it. Maybe I’ll get to read more books or finally tune my guitar or learn to play poker like I’ve wanted to do for the past 5 months. It’s not the be all and end all – it just seems it because my generation has never known any different.
Commencing Saturday 4th July, 2009.
I’ll mark this as done when I’ve gone 6 weeks without turning on the television and make a note of the things I did daily now I’ll have lots of spare time on my hands.

Comcast is done. I will up my Netflix subscription, though. I am still waiting for them to shut it off.

It’s interesting, I’m getting more done, particularly more cooking and reading, both much healthier alternatives.

I just returned from a vacation in Morocco, where I watched no television, and realized how much time and energy the boob tube sucks out of my life. I don’t have cable, so when I got back my television wasn’t working due to the changeover to digital. I can’t quite figure out how to get the adapter working and decided this is the perfect opportunity to try giving it up completely.

I haven’t really watched TV in four or so years. Started cutting back tremendously in college when I became more busy. Not having cable for all that time made a difference as well. Since January 2008 I haven’t had a TV where I am living. There probably are a few channels that I would still find interesting (such as Food Network, Discovery Channel, TLC, History Channel, and the BBC Planet Earth series) but overall it’s not worth it. I certainly don’t miss watching TV, it has freed up amazing amounts of time. A question I still am not sure about is if I ever plan on owning a TV set again to be used for movies and documentaries once I move back to the United States.
Read a book instead!

I’m sick of rotting my brain in front of the tv! You gain nothing from it in general. My flat mates always have it on though so i can’t sit in the lounge without being bombared with crappy tv shows ahhh!

Ahnika is back in NYC & tcb @ home.
I really like alot of TV shows… luckily none of them reality TV. I mostly rent DVDs or get shows on the web… but I really want to only watch movies or shows when it’s on my schedule. I absolutly hate the brainwashyness of commercials & feel that becasue of the exrta time they take & the disconnect in the show by having interuptions, that watching it is jsut draining me… my energy, my time, my cohesion of thought, as well as messing up my visual accuity.
I’d like to stop watching TV entirely. There are better things to do with my time.
